Thanks dude...yes I'll be there on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. On Saturday we're going to try to drive up to Turlock for the swap meet. I can PM you my phone number if you don't have it? See ya there!
'53 Willys Aero, '51 Henry J, and '51 Ford pieces are what I used to make the Floater bar. I don't have much time to drink anymore, but I do always need someone to sweep! I don't know if I'd be the best mentor though, because I'm still learning as I go.
If you make it up to the Turlock swap, stop by space L-37 and say hi. We will be there Fri-Sunday. I'd really like to see your Fastback...your work never ceases to amaze. We did it last year, but the GNRS and Turlock are too much for me to try to do in one weekend...must be gettin old. Neal
Brian- Its looking Bad Ass! I really like how the floater bar turned out. Relax you have plenty of time until the GNRS...Later- E.C.
wow floater is even better than i thought it would be man......you definatly nailed it.....this car is gonna be one to remember for sure......
In the first "rendering" I saw it was blue. Its always been that color in my head ever since. I say a dark metallic blue. Like a metallic pearl Washington blue. Thats kind of what i had in my mind. Whatever it turns out to be, I hope its "something" blue.
Man , this is amazing ! everything on this car work well together ! I can hardly wait to see update of that baby ! I look at the pics, and see the old pics from Lynnwood... Sam would be proud !
Now on the way to the Suede Palace... Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to install the Appleton 112's or the Packard sidetrim, but oh well. See some of you at the show!
hell yeah. im in town and im gana be at teh show for sure...whats the best day to go fri or sat? i was thinkn fri cuase not a lot of foot traffic during the day, but will everything be totally set up? i cant wait. there aint shit like it on the east coast...YEAHER
As much as I love Appletons, I'd say that car shouldn't have them. Not sure what Packard side trim you're talking about, but that might just be "too much" as well. The way that car flows, it definitely has the "less is more" vibe going for it. And that Merc hood/grille cavity is inspired. Whodathunk?
Holy crap! That looks so good! I had doubts about the merc front end treatment when you first talked about it, but ...... Holy crap! That looks so good!
Got the car back in the shop yesterday to get it ready for the Lonestar Roundup, and took some better shots of it. Rather than start another post, I figured I'd tack them onto the end of this one. Here's a better photo of the rear end about 90 percent done now. You can't have a traditional mid '50's custom without Appletons! It's going to get a really nice pair of 112's that I scrounged up. I would have liked to find some equally nice 552's, but no dice. I'll post some better pics of the floater bar and grille surround later today....stay tuned.
Pretty cool....puttin a Chevy roof on a Merc.......wish I'd thought of that. I think it's a complement when people are confused about what kind of car you actually started out with.
