Hey Guys: I was in Detroit this week for the opening of the Auto Show and had a chance to get over to The Henry Ford Museum for a quick look (I never have enough time to look around the HF Museum, so I go every time I get to Detroit!). There's so much to see there that a thousand pictures still wouldn't cover everything, but on display at the front of the Museum were a couple of cars that I hope you'll enjoy. Check out the photos of the Slingshot dragster, Willys coupe and the Goldenrod LSR car. Bruce
I was gonna stop by there on Wednesday (never been before), but chose to head to the airport and catch an earlier flight home instead. Looks like I should have followed my original plans.
I spent the entire day there 4 years ago. I do not think I even saw everything. The Ag history and the devolpment of the American kitchens exibits were interesting. I would like to go in the summer and see the outside exibits. Jim H
It was pretty awesome this summer they had the 75th anniv. of the deuce there.. All the cars were parked in the Greenfield Village area among all the old houses...And at the village they give ya rides in Model T's and model a's...all around the village...
this thing rings a bell..allthough its not the same car..but i guess this is just how it was done back then. cheapst.
I'm going to have to get there and see the Goldenrod. I've always wanted to see it up close and personal. George's Willy's is a must see also. The last time I was next to it was at the Indy Nationals when it beat Stone-Woods-Cook in the AA/GS finals. One of the most fantastic races I've ever witnessed. Frank
no chance you have any other pictures of the car in the museum? this car i am showing was Budd Corletto's from Phila pa.my uncle (John Fox)was sort of a partner in it way back when with Bill Winterbergin... Kanuika did the machine work on the motor. they look similar...especially the bars where the helmet would set.. the motor and front axle are different.. neat.... cheapst
Cheapst: Sorry, no more pics - and those are a bit dark, anyway. You're right, the cars are really close - the cockpit was really simple - just a sheet metal sling for a seat! Took some major guts to drive, Im sure! Bruce
