Unlike popular belief, Fords make killer lows.

That would be me, as for "mecca," yes and no. Yeah I can shoot Impalas with Ds for days, but I need to capture the other stuff as well like Donnie's Olds 88. I dig the stuff you've sent me guys, but I can only do so much since I ain't on staff at LRM. I will continue to "contribute" as long as I can but I got other fish to fry as well.

As much as it makes me feel dirty to say it, I agree with Cliffy.

Think about it. Chevy had independent, coil spring front suspension and parallel leafs in the 30's already, while Fords had the transverse leaf/straight axle setup, making the earlier Fords much more difficult to lower. A Chevy could be lowered in an afternoon, a Ford would require reverse-eye springs, a dropped axle, or other costly parts to lower.

Then, in '58, Chevy started using a 4 wheel coil suspension, which made hydraulics and air bags that much easier, while Ford was still using a rear leaf spring suspension.

If you're gonna build a lowrider, you want the car that is the easiest to lower.

I've also heard a story about how Chevy dealerships in Cali right after WWII had so much demand for cars, that they'd order them with nearly every factory option, so they could make more on each car. Later, when those cars became used cars, it gave birth to the decked out lowrider "bomb" style car.

Don't know if it's true, but sounds good.

I won a 'best lowrider' trophy at a show last year, didn't know I was a lowrider.
