Nice tank. What are your plans for it? I've been toying with the idea of trying to find one to build. Looks like I'm somewhat local to you, let me know if you'll be looking for help at all. I'd love to see one go together. I sent a PM as well.

That's really cool, but for a mere $425 thousand you could've bought the Beatty tank instead of a photo of it,, :D

You should build a P-38 to attach it to the bottom of.

Looks good Rusty, I mean patina

  16. Doesn't look like a P-38 tank, looks more like a F8F tank.
    It's also blue, isn't it?

    Different shape, same cool factor.

    Awesome score,

    (2 P-38 and a F8F pic attached for reference)

Thanks for the info on the F8F and the P-38, the tank I have is the sane as Bobby Greens Old Crow posted on the HAMB many times, I am going on Bobby's information my tank is Blue and I know the demensions are slightly smaller then a P-38, by the looks of the pics. there is a very suttle difference in the sape of the P-38 and the F8F, My tank looks like the F8F as does The Old Crow. Bobby thought these tanks were later versions of the P-38, but they sure resemble the F8F more.

Any more specifications or info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Steve

Cool beans. Looks like a fun project. That tank looks to be in terriffic shape. Ours looked like it was dropped from 20,000
There seems to be a real shortage of tank experts that can positively identify drop tanks. We are still looking for what type ours is.
All I can figure is there must be hundreds of variants.

  21. Post a pic, there are a bunch of "Wingnuts" on here. ;)

Hey Steve, How about "Cat Shot" for a name on your tanker?

Bearcat/Catapult Shot......Get it? I wonder how many shots that tank has had.

Here is a bit of a F8F from a P-51 on the Tube

FoMoCo made belly tanks during WW2, so you guys racing belly tanks may really be driving a plain old Ford !
