The SFCC crew came over and helped me finish up some wiring, temped up some fuel lines and throttle linkage so we could make some noise with the new blower motor. Thanks FELLAS - awesome job. I had a blast. It's a 283, .040 over with a 4-71 and a little pussy summit 1102 cam. Its got 76CC heads on it. The 4-71 came from my buddies diesel junk yard and I sent it to Don Hampton to redo. 22 months later I got it back! He was busy. Dyers 2" drive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvW3kuN4ci4 Start up went pretty good once we fixed a few minor leaks and put a water neck gasket in. We let it run for twenty or so minutes at 2-3K to break in the cam. The plastic radiator fan got into the lower rad hose and grenaded. Luckily nobody caught any of that. Then greenmtnboy got assualted with a couple baffles that shot out upon a good goose of the throttle. This sucker sounds wicked when you wing it. Need to get the brakes plumbed and finish some wiring, get insurance and tag Woohoooo
I can attest to the fact that that motor is one bad mofo. It was a balst being there for the first start. I can't wait to go for a spin in the beast!!!!
nice ! let`s see the rest of that 5 window. I like those ! and have you seen this ? http://deuceslimited.activeboard.com/
woah - no I hadn't see that site - I'll have to spend some time over there. I saw your car - nice man. Here is a shot of it from early nov. That was the first engine I ever completely assembled. We'll see if it stays together.
She sounds killer. Is she enough to hang with the huge at the HAMB Drags this year?????? One way to find out. Good work holmes, -Abone.
Congrats Josh,,,glad to see you making progress Looks like you may be driving something different to the JPM this year! HRP
Sweet! That motor sounded really good. I was wondering where you fockers went after brunch. Was this it?
sounds fucking awesome Josh. thanks for sharing. can't wait to hear it in person and see it hook up. good seeing ya'll the other night.
Thanks fellas - Tyler -the two carbs was for fear of the 97's not starting up as easy. After I get some more confidence in the thing I will start making it fancy!
I can attest...that thing is WICKED! Someone was definately looking out for us...between the plastic fan grenading, the baffles shooting out of the pipes, and the 200 degree coolant gyser there was plenty of oportunity for injury. But, it was FUN! Brett
Excellent Josh! Good thing you had the top notch "S.F.C.C. Pit Crew" members close at hand to navigate through the start -up problems,(and flying, scalding shrapnel),wish I could have been there! Got the painting done in the shop,(for now),and clean up is in progress getting ready for my lift install later this month.
