ok guys/gals this is a big one...i have a motor/trans (caddy/th400) along with radiator and driveshaft in oklahoma city that i need brought up north to northwest ohio (43543)...i really hope this works cause i would then have my drivetrain all set up for the next project!!!! If anyone can help please list where you are and how far you might be able to take it...so on and so on. thanks to everyone bob
i tried a relay and struck out for my caddy engine. ended up going through www.uship.com which is like an auction for your shipment. they actually bid for the lowest price. i got it hauled over 800 miles for $150. give it a try if this doesn't pan out.
so far i've got this, much appreciation to everyone... from St Louis Mo to I-24 and I-57 in Illinois, maybe a bit farther. Or From St Lou to somewhere on I-64 in Illinois. Or down I-57 to the southern tip of Illinois.
Bob I wish I could be of some help. I am leaving tomorrow for Dallas and will be coming back to Delta on 12-30 but I will be in the daily driver mini van with a load of my wife's belongings from her parents house so I have no room. Otherwise this is something I could have definitely helped with. I would take Enjenjo's van but as you know the blower only works on high and that just would not cut it.
I am taking some stuff to my son's place in Lawton OK on the 28th, plan on returning the 29th or the 30th to Kansas City MO. I am using an F150 pickup. Let me know if that helps any.
oldsguy, it looks as if you take 44 south you will drive right thru oklahoma city...could you possibly grab everything while you are there and store them at your place until next pickup is arranged?
Sure no problem. I only have a small garage but can probably make it fit someplace or other. PM me with contact information. I could call you on Friday before I head down there maybe.
It's a Ford, right. There is a rheostat under the glove box connected to the heater duct with two 8mm bolts and has 4 wires coming out of it. The part provides the 3 different leaves of resistance necessary for all the blower speeds other than high. The part can only be bough at a Ford dealership. I changed this on my fathers 2000 Mustang, it was very easy. The rheostat rusts due to condensation in the heater duct and eventually dies on you. Leave it to Ford to put a part in the worst possible place.
It's actually not a rheostat (that's a variable resistor - this one is fixed) Ask for a "Blower Motor Resistor" - common problem with them and classic symptom of a blown out one.... OldsGuy - if you can't fit it I've got some space that I might be able to house it for a couple weeks - don't want it here long term, but willing to hold it for a month or so...
That might be great because I was hoping to get my '46 into the garage to do some wiring work. You know how it is with these midwest winters and this one hasn't been terrible but I do hate crawling around on the cold ground, have to be under the engine to wire the starter. If the relay doesn't get completed in a few months then maybe we could bring it back to my place, by then I should have the work done and could put my '46 back outside. PM me your contact info. Planning on coming back on Sunday the 30th with it.
is there anyone on the border of southern border of ohio that could grab this stuff for me when guiseart goes thru on the 2nd of january?
At some point in the near future I need to come up to KC to get a load of Glide trans cores. Is time a factor?
I know what is wrong with it. Also know the one for the rear blower is shot now too. Just can't fix it until I have a reliable daily driver for myself. After working on Ford and Sterling trucks for s couple years I can also tell you that is it the link between the output terminal and the resistor pack that is broken. A 14 gauge wire soldered to the terminal would fix it temporarily fix it in most cases.
hey frank, the items are already on the move, should be in southern ohio (cincinatti area) in a week or so...hope you and your family had a good holiday!!!
Greg and I loaded that thing onto his trailer yesterday and the wind made the temperature fell like -40! All the metal was freezing.
ah man that sucks, we had horrible weather here as well and i can't imagine how much heavier everything must feel when your about to freeze to death! Once again thanks guys this couldn't have happened without all of you!!!
It's in Olive Hill,KY. Sitting in the garage I use to work on my 51 Chevy. I hope to get it to Blown49 in West Union,OH soon. I found myself without a way to transport it right now.
it will get here whenever...no rush guys on getting it to the spots, so don't feel like its a hurry in any way, but another thank you to everyone!!!!
