Lets take a stroll through the BARN I found.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jrblack30, Dec 1, 2007.

  1. A few weeks ago I followed up on a tip of a farmer who has stash of cars and parts and after talking with the old man, he instructed his son to give me a tour of the joint and show me what he has.

This is my car in his front yard

I walked to this normal barn/ shed and when the doors opened this is what I saw through the opening, it was dark and it took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust but here are some of the pics I got on this trip, I will be going back soon for more detailed pics. Oh yeah all the brown and black spots you see on the ground in these picture is cow SHIT, this is a cow shed and they have free roam of the shed to do as they please. They have done alot of damage to every vehicle in the shed.

    Barn # 1
    32 Ford truck
    [IMG]
    parked behind I found this
    [IMG]
    behind it on the ground
    [IMG]
along side it was this unknown truck
    [IMG]

along it was this Allstate ? Not sure if it is or just a custom

here is the owner son just looking around, notice the TT behind him

There was something else buried next to the TT but could make it out or get pics.

The long Fire truck, unknown make looks 31,32 ish
    [IMG]
    the front grill/hood
    [IMG]
smaller fire truck in front of the bigger fire truck next to the ALLSTATE
    [IMG]
finally, the remains of this unknown fire truck
    [IMG]
steering wheel and dash of unknown truck

    That’s all for this barn

  2. I was escorted to a second barn inside this barn was this truck they drive this one regularly in parades and such, the owners son was sure to crank on the hand sirens and blow out my ear drums since I was standing not more than two feet in front of the truck.
    that’s all for shed 2.

    Off to shed 3

This Pontiac Convertible is sleeping , he said about 20 years ago they found a crack in the frame so that is where they left it, they haven’t opened the doors to this shed in 15 years.

The property owner is big on steam engines and he has a dozen or so around in different sheds
    [IMG]

    Shed 4

This roadster was staring at me
    [IMG]
next to the roadster was this 2 door sedan
    [IMG]
buried under a pile of junk is the ?
a few doors down in this shed this was peeking through the door at me
    [IMG]
Next door to it I caught a glimpse of this between the large steam tractors
    [IMG]
turn the corner to the last bay was this 31 sport coupe

The 5th pic is a Hercules XB series engine out of a Cletrac, or Oliver OC-3.

Never knew Allstate did a rag top. Anyone know if Henry J did? Got to be rare.

  7. Sory man that information I cannot share with anyone at the owner request.

From what I could make out there is no steam powered stuff, the tractors are gassers/ distilate powered, looked like a IHC Mogul or a titan, hard to tell, too bad it's so dark in there ! Sure looks like a hell of a find though ! Guess the barn finds are still out there, good work !

Allstate looks lto be an "owner modified" to me. Looks like they covered the window slots along the tops of the doors with wood.

cool stuff , my Dad is into the hit & miss engines he sure would like to see those..

  12. My wife just came in to see if I was ok cause I was squeeling like a girl each time I scrolled to the next picture picture.

  13. Thats not wood, it is years of dust and cow shit, seriously!

  14. WOW. what a cool find. I also read you other post about the allstate/Henry J earlier. Did the Tall T's come like that with a wood cab or is that some redneck shit the farmer did? I live to stumble on a stash like that. Would the owner sell ANYTHING to you?

looks like a good stash alright, but I suspect the owner is a hoarder, not a car builder.

According to my Standard Catalog of American Cars, neither the Allstate or the Henry J were produced in anything other than 2 dr sedans.

Yep, that's a lot of junk that you'll never get to have. When that guy dies some relative will have the scrap man haul it all away, the end. Don't cry, it's not your junk it's that guys junk and he can hoard his junk if he wants to, not that I agree that he should not find loving homes for that stuff, but just because you want it does not make your need to have it more improtant than his need to hoard it. Spilled milk kiddies...

The greasy old tractor parked by the Model T roadster is a Rumsley Oil Pull. They were fueled and cooled by a big oil reservoir.
I just bought a steering wheel off Ebay just like the one in the dismantled red fire tuck that has the frontend missing. I thought the wire S in the middle of the horn button was homemade but this one is the same. I'd like to know the brand of the firetruck. Anyone?
