I wanted to share a small hobby of mine for those rainy days. Even though many don't know about this hobby, it is huge all over the world. I have made many close friends from all countries and this hobby can get very addicting at times. Customizing 1/64 scale diecast cars can be a challenge, but still fun to do. It's kind of like model building, just a lot smaller. LOL. When I build mine, I try to add as much detail as possible. It has to look like the real deal to the point where you think if you were that small, you could hop in turn key and drive away. Anyways, I'll skip to the chase and show some pics. Hope you like and thanks for looking. Meth

Are you aware of Ed Roth's 1/64 work??

Sometime around 1961, Revell released kits of new Mopars of all sorts in 1/64...I cannot think of the name applied to these. They came in sets with a fairly large number of compact and full size cars in one box...Roth was part of Revell's advertising system, and they did a photo shoot of Roth customizing heaps of tiny cars in Rod and Custom magazine.

Kool!! I can see it now. I thought that the woody was a two door and the four door was throwing me off.

Duncan you need to try it. I don't have a shop or a garge to play in, so I
just tear up some Hot wheels and $5 worth of bondo and I go to hack'n.
Lot of fun and if it sucks your not out much.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Do ya'll have any pics in the middle of the customizations? The end results look great and all but I'm a bit more about the process.

    Thanks!

You know what would be VERY cool?? Become a HAMB sponsor and have a HAMB special.
    Just my 2¢.

Meth. Those are some cool cars there. I started customizing 1/64th die cast a lng time ago when I first started getting my intestinal problem. When it was too cold to be working on my real truck I was working on Hotwheels. Little by little I've done more and more to them and, for now, this is the ony way I can afford a garage full of custom cars.

Larry. Awesome to see you on here! Why not design a 620 Datsun? (see my intro to understand why I still like this bodystyle.) I know it's not H.A.M.B material, but neither are some of the other cars Hotwheels makes. Here are a couple more ideas.
    Bullet Nose Studebaker.
A mainline 40 Willys coupe. (not like the 2000 first edition)
    A mainline 40 Willys pickup.
    A mainline 34 Willys.
    A mainline 38 cabover.
    A mainline 32 pickup.
(The above cars were done in the acrylic boxed sets, but we'd love to see them in mainline cars).

Meth. If I had a better camera I'd show better pics of some of the 1/64th I've done. Here are a few anyway.

I've done a bit of it, but not many modern makers have fallen onto my bench for rework. I've been customizing old stuff into salt racers & kustoms. I modeled when I was a kid, and I'm not much interested in plastic models anymore. Besides, small scale doesn't take up much display room.

    How cool is the HAMB????
Start talking about 1/64 scale cars, and the head designer of Hot Wheels himself logs on to ask our opinions!

Welcome to the board.....Hot Wheels, AMT, Revel, and Monogram are the reasons why many of us are hacking up big cars today. Would love to see more traditional style hot rods, and maybe even a limited edition HAMB car....you'd sell thousands of them to guys on here.

woodlarr: pretty cool that you are on here.
My start on hot rods and customs was late 70's early 80's hot wheels. In the late 90's I got the sickness, and now I have 3500+ hot wheels.

I think the pink freak screams hot wheel. In most of the threads about it people would comment that it looks like a full size hotwheel.

    heres acouple shots.

meth: thanks for this thread- I'll try to get some shots of mine......

Larry Woods a member, that's cool.

I've "dabbled" with 1/64th but most of what I have done is parts swapping and paint. My favorite subject is the HW First Edition '65 Impala Lowrider. Remove the graphics, swap in a black interior and tinted windows and big and little Real Rider wheels and tires and it makes one bad ass street machine. I have found JB Weld to be invaluable when working with diecast.

Hey Larry how's about bringing out a version of the '65 done up like that only in factory 1965 GM paint colors like Goldenrod, Evening Orchid, Marina Blue etc. Plain old White would even be cool and how about some realistic Studebakers in the collector series? I bet a Hemi powered salt flat '53/'54 Coupe would fly off the shelves, you could pair it up with a 50's Studebaker car hauler............
