9" ford question

    im trying to get the axel back in my ford 9" and for some reason its not going in all the way , about an eigth of an inch of the bearing is still showing and it feels like its hitting something thats holding it up . any ideas? tricks?

    It should go it if its that far.. Get a hammer and see what happens. the only thing that can hold it up is the bearing bore with maybe a ridge in it or the splines in the side gears..

    do you have the brake backing plate off . if so that is why, it will take up the extra 1/8 inch. they do not go all the way into the housing the backing plate will use the brg, to center it on the axel

    If you have a T-Lok, the splines may not be lined up - try turning the axle while pushing in.
