tried my hand at some patina looking paint on my car what do ya think? it doesn't look so black in person for some reason my camera makes it look dark. I'm going to leave it this way until after grand national roadster show.( this is the first time I have sized pic's for the web and the look like shit. any advice on what I'm doing wrong? the color is terrible)

That's a very nice car, and it deserves to be in one color ... and glossy.

    You know she wants it.

I think one color and shiny would be the way to go my .02cents

  5. That's a great car.
I agree one color might be better.

It looks a bit woodgrained to me.

Do you have a Ballpeen hammer? You are missing dents. Don't get to picky about locations... Infact if you know any 7 year olds, turn two or three of 'em loose with one. That way the pattern will be random. You know like real earned lumps and bumps.... :) :) :) :)

OH, and tone the wheels down a bit and scratch up those hubcaps (it wouldn't hurt to point one or two of them out the aformentioned 7 year olds!) He he he :)

Wash it with a blue scotchbrite pad, It will soften the look a lot.

  12. Just paint that baby suede or gloss. Either way would be cool.

Yep, nice car, needs paint. I have yet to see a new "patina" paint job that you couldnt tell was bogus. Mines still bare metal but i'll be putting something on it soon.

I think the car is pretty darn nice and you did do a great job on the patina, but agree that patina has to be real to be cool and not made. If you redo the paint as well as you did the patina, it would probably look fantastic. chalk it up to a worth while experiement, sand it down and call it the primer coat and hit it with one sweet color. I am thinking if it were mine I go for a really dark rich blue or green.

That is a nice looking car. It does deserve a nice paint job. My 71 year old buddy saw these pics and he said it needs a nice paint job too... He was there and lived it... They all wanted painted cars...He told me how hard they tried to make them fast and Not look like they were discarded by someone else.... Jason.

you forgot to shoot it full of bulletholes and put iron crosses and skulls all over.

A little over-pinstriping will go along way for the look you are going for too. But hey...at least you got the red wheels right.

    hahaha....couldnt help myself.

Really cool car, but lose the fake patina.

Cool car!...I like it the way it is, and would like it one color. Must feel great to be finished, or close too(If you decide to paint it shiney)? If you do change the color, I see Red to match the wheels w/ white #'s.

    Then race it!

Fake patina is kinda like a transvestite.
Yeah, it looks like a blouse full of goodies but, down where it counts, it is still just wrong.
