Hey I don't care what anyone says, that thing is cool. To me, its in the same spirit of everything that guys like us do. Why shouldn't it be considered a hot rod? Because it isn't American made?

I think it's great that this thread has been on for this long. No matter where the original sheetmetal was made (in the US or overseas), fabrication skills are fabrication skills, and this car obviously show some talent by the guy with the welder.

To the people hating on this thread, don't read it. Simple as that. Look at something else, this website sure has enough pages. Have you even been to a VW Bug-In before? The quality of some of the cars there rivals ANY custom-car show or hot-rod that I've ever seen.

    Nick,
First car: 1970 VW Bug...wish I still had it!

Been running low 9s consistently until it went to a regional track to trial the added NOS, lost traction and went on its lid.

But bigger and better is coming very soon.

Can anyone say Twin Sprintex Autorotors + laughing gas?

  7. It would be a shame to change that 'vert. It looks nice the way it is :)

  8. Isn't this a Hot Rod and Kustoms board ?

    "Ooooooo don't change it."
If I want stock shit,I'll look on one of the dozens of Cookie Cutter Resto boards.

It's about time this gets closed cause it's degenerated into a bunch of Sally's bitching about a VW on the board. Get over it.

Well a well built hot rod VW is not worse than a Ford
which have been build rusty just to have more
    rust than the neighbour...
Actually it's far better... if it gets no rust.
    Did I told u I hate rust ? ;)
My preference goes to the american based hot rods
but I got no problem with v dubs. Some are much more
    inspired than some Fords.

Hell: I like um! You can make anything out of them and we've all owned one. I got my racing start in a Formula Vee. Had a ball. Moved on to circle track.

  16. My point was, this is a forum for modified cars.

    Right ?

There absolutely HAS to be Drama, I guess...

I think it was proven about 15 pages ago that VW's can be Trad.
And were used by Hot Rodders, back in the day.

    This Thread was cool..

Plenty of nice, Traditionally Modified Cars on it that are right at home at a Trad Hot Rod Site.

And some stuff that is built in a way too modern way, that does not belong.

    This one ran its course...
