    1 8 7 3 6 5 4 2 for the 1936 to 1941 V8's, as well as the post-war flatheads. The 1935 firing order is 1 2 7 8 4 5 6 3. If you happen to have a 1935 or 1936 LaSalle motor (looks the same as Cadillac, crank and some other components are different) the firing order is 1 6 2 5 8 3 7 4. LaSalle 1937 and later is the same as the later Cadillac flatheads.

    I assume you're talking the V8, right?

Hard to tell if it's the engine or trans that is causing the issue, only way to tell for sure is separate them. How long had it been sitting, and in what conditions? If it's been sitting for a few years it's more than likely that the engine has a tight spot. Squirt a few ounces of your favorite rust buster down each spark plug hole, let it sit for a couple days, and see if it turns any easier.

  12. Good luck breaking it apart. I had a tight spot in my caddy 8 with a Hydro. You need to pull the what seemed like 60 bolts that hold the TQ together and if it is stuck , you may have to pull the crank attached to the tranny to unbolt it from the tranny. Unless you break some portholes into the bell housing to gain access.

    GOOD LUCK

I got mine seperated after about three days of work. Ended up being a stuck valve that was locking it up. Tore into it, loosened up the valve. Now it rotates 360 with no problems after sitting 30 some years.

This kind of what I'm thinking it is.....what were the steps you did to fix the stuck valve...and on that note what was the torque on the head bolts and in what sequence...thanks for the help....Aaron
