Well, I am having my nose partially removed from my face tomorrow. Turns out I have a deviated septum, and a small nasal cavity on one side... Anyway, this causes pretty severe sleep apnea for me, my oxygen levels dip into the 70 percent ranges (that's bad by the way)at night whilst I sleep... And I snore like a freight train (my wife loves that too). So... Tomorrow they are going to open up my nose and take a piece of cartlidge from my ear to hold my nasal passage open like a permanent "breath right" strip. What does all this mean? I won't be able to work on the truck for several weeks. No lifting no bending over so no working on the truck... But I still get to come to work everyday! That's a good thing because that is the only place I have internet and the HAMB. Wish me luck! I will take a pic of my face a messed up to post if ya want.
seems to me you could just go into a local watering hole, and say FAVRE sucks and get a free nose job
make sure they tape all your fingers together, so you cant pick at it! Seriously, best of luck with your surgery. You'll be fine.
I got the same problem but I didn't have surgury I have to sleep with CPAP machine. You probaly doing the best thing to go ahead and get it fixed.Good luck my prayers are with you.
Did it eight years ago. Best thing you could do. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery. Oh, and when they tell you to lay down and no matter what, don't go up stairs.....they meen it.
I had it done. No biggy . Pretty painless. When they said deviate I knew that was the operation for me. LOL
Thanks guys, they say the ear is the worst thing. I guess that makes sense since they will be taking cartlidge from my ear.
Had that surgery at the same time as having my tonsils out not fun. Just remember to sneeze through your mouth!!! I forgot and burst a load of blood vessels. Get well soon!!
Ive got the same shit and i was told by a specialist they could do it outpatient and it would be a piece of cake.. im 56 and ive had it forever and the first doctalked about breaking my nose and everything but the last one says no..... Maybe thats why i have trouble sleeping ? Dave
i agree with everyone that says it's the smartest thing they had done...i had it done 15 years ago after having a sinus infection for 18 months...been fantastic ever since...plus it provided the impetus to give up the "nose candy" never could've afforded the toys if i still had that bad habit...
Hey, good luck with the surgery and the recovery. I need to get myself to the local sleep clinic, too. But I'm worried about breaking their snore meter. Maybe the NSA can just send them the tapes from their satellite.
good luck on a quick recovery, keep us updated. I have been told I have a deviated septum as well. The Dr wants to do surgery, but I am not so sure. Apparantly the only person my snoring bothers is my wife. I now sleep with a CPAP machine that I hate, so does my cat, he keeps batting me in the face when I have it on, but I am dealing with it. Something I would like to know is, if I have the surgery will I be able to ditch the CPAP? I keep forgetting to ask the Dr.
I had that done as an outpatient many years ago. The drugs they gave me made the world just Fiiiiine. No Pain. No cartilage, just a piece of irridated bone from an donor hold my nostrils open. For all I know that bone was from road kill. It was well worth it. I slept better and more important, my wife could too, no more snoring from me. Good luck.
I had my nostrils cauterized when I was still fighting...suffice to say stopping to smell the roses is pretty much pointless. as an aftereffect of that, I snore like a freight train. Wonder if they could get in there and hog it out?
Well for the warped people such as myself here is a lovely pic. This is what they did... They broke my nose augered it out, and took a piece of cartlidge from my ear to create a permanent "breath right" strip in my nose. They also found a bone spur in mt nasal cavity growing from when I broke my nose years back. I guess you could say I was growing a horn! Anyway, thanks for the kind words, this is definately a good thing I have done, and the pain is worth it. I have splints up in my nose and on the outside even with these I breath better than I ever have. There are only two surgeons in Wisconsin that perform this partlicular surgery, and I am lucky that my wife is a nurse and works for one of them. Too bad I don't get a discount Can't wait to get healed up, and get back to working on the truck rod.
You have discovered the two most terrifying words in the english language, when paired together are... NASAL TAMPON.
Are you bleeding out your ears, too? Jiminy crickets! Good luck with your healing. Hope it all works out well for you.
