Why of course I do. Spending my 8 hours at work "viewing" issues on the HAMB allowed me to obtain a room at the "Inn" in time. I, of course, will retired to my room at 10pm promptly as to not disturb anyone though.;) :D

Some are saying its a safe town, others are saying not. I'm confused. Will Megan and I, two signle girls, be OK walking around town/fairgrounds unescorted??

"That" crowd is use to paying $400 per nite at a "budget" motel during Pebble Beach.;)

I do have another question though. Would it be closer/easier to fly into LA as opposed to San Fran?

Denise if you feel save in Detriot walking around at night, should be no problem. And it might be fine anyway, heck you might be able to warm up to Padro and Quan, if you believe the local news there is always something undesirable going on. I don't live there and have never had any problem when I've ventured down that way. But but?

Paso is halfway between the fruits and nuts, Santa Maria is 60 miles closer to the nuts (LA).

Yea but have you ever seen the rooms they pass off as motel rooms in Paso? I've stayed in a $9 a night room in Kansas (very small town in 1990) that was a suite compared to the room my buddy had a couple of years ago in Paso! I actually think they kick out the homeless people that are paying by the week just to open rooms for Paso weekend...anyway...I am sure you will always have ready escorts Denise...every pic you show looks like you have more friend from more places than ayone I have ever seen!

i honestly can not wait...I love SM. I was born in SM. Went to Miller school k-2nd (school is near the fairgrounds as is the house I grew up in...gives me an excuse to go look at them).

I live right accross the street from Miller school. My wifes Dodge wagon sits in front of the house. Her T-bird is in the driveway. To this day, all 4 Plymouth points are still on the wagon, and the Supremes on the bird are still there. I can't remember the last time I heard gun shots, besides the range the other day. I will also miss Paso. I have had a car in suede there since 1990. Anybody remember the WCK show in Los Banos?? That was in the top 5 for me and it went away. But in a roundabout way it became a great show in Ventura. Again still in the top 5. I won't argue that Santa Maria is different than Paso. I live here and rather it be in Paso. But we have to move forward. Anybody need a room in Paso??? My room is paid for and not refundable. Diablo and Angel, the wife will have the "Hello Kitty" sheets waiting for you... I'll warn the neighbors you are coming....

when are you going to stop this nonsense carl ??? santa maria did not steal the paso show.

your continuous misrepresentation of the facts are getting tired and are downright irresponsible, santa maria is no more dangerous then paso and to compare santa maria`s crime rate to detroits is insane.

also since you are having a hard time spelling, it spelled safe, juan, pedro, detroit . must have been that wonderful schooling you recieved in paso ???

trying to scare people into not coming to the show in s.m. because PASO chased us away from there isn`t going to bring the show back your way.

no one here in santa maria that i know of wanted the show to move, but now that it is ,trying to sabotage the show with scare mongering is irresponsible.

Tisdelski, I lock my doors when I am doing 70mph on the freeway when I pass through Santa Maria..... Nawwww.. It will be fine.. I only live 35 minutes away but I got rooms there.. It will still be fun...Yes, you do hear of more things on the news in S.M. but there are more people there.. What is everybody afraid of? It is still being run by the same people just a diff. venue.. Jason...

LOL tisdelski you got me, I must have rushed my bash of Santa Maria. Spell check has taken away many skills we all use to use everyday. Padro, Quan LOL looks good enough to me.

Continuous misrepensation of facts, oh please go fuck off, as I said I don't live there. But if you believe the news there is crap going on there all the time. I don't live in Detriot either, but I'm sure it is worst than Santa Maria(notice that you spell city names with capital letters, heck even Juan and Pedro get capital letters) which would mean if Denise feels safe in Detroit then she will feel safe in Santa Maria. Did I compare the two, no not really.

Just were in the hell did I say Santa Maria stole the show from Paso? Didn't do it. Yes the fact is the Paso City council run off the WCKs.

"downright irresponsible" You must have some pent up problems if you think anything I have said fits in this catagory.

The Paso city council was downright irresponsible and I'm still pissed off for what they did. If you want to bash me go ahead, but at least put some substance and truth to your dribble. If you want to be my spell checker please do, could you also do a grammar check whiile your at it. Thanks!

    But really FO!

I have been meaning to contact Miller school. I remember doing a time capsule when I went to school there and I was curious if they ever opened it.

I was at the very first Paso Cruise and I was the very last and maybe, just maybe that makes me OLD! However, I remember when the Paso Cruise was for kustoms only........what the hell happened??????.......I've got nothing against rat rods or whatever you want to call them, but don't they have a Run of their own????...Just like the corvettes, mustangs, muscle carws etc. Paso used to be all about the people, it was nice and laid back, it had great entertainment and everybody had a GREAT time....what happened?????.......Maybe since I'm an "old kustom guy" times are just passing me by, or maybe I just choose to live in the past kustom world!........At any rate, Paso is gone and Santa Maria in on and should be an open run. If you going to let the rat rods in then you should let the vettes, mustangs and muscle cars in also.

scaring people with bullshit is irresponsible. not good for the continuance of the show. are you hoping the show will fail?? if so ,thats pathetic.

lets see some facts to back up your ignorance of Santa Maria?? it seems the dribble and lack of facts seem to be coming from your posts .

if you are saying that you didn`t compare Detroit with Santa Maria you just full of it. i hope the people who want to come to the show don`t get discouraged by your nonsense.

if you really think you need to bring your gun to feel safe here, don`t come . stay home where there`s no crime.

by the way, i took your advice ,all towns are with caps, i see your spelling didn`t get any better??

and one more thing, i wasn`t bashing you, its called disagreeing .

Now I understand, every f'ing thing that was stated about Santa Maria was said by me! LOL Your good, even I didn't realize I said all those things. I've only said, if you go by the news then there is alot of crap that goes on in Santa Maria. Am I a bad person for looking at the news papers and watching the local news media? Stick your head in the sand bud. For the record I hate the media and don't believe everything or the way they spin it.

OK go back and read again, I didn't compare SM and Detroit, I only said if Denise feels safe in Detroit then she will feel safe in Santa Maria. That's only an observation she can make. Not you and not I.

Get this straight I don't give a fuck that the show is now Santa Maria or if it is a flop or a great success. My whole point of this post was about the Paso City Council and how they run off the WCKs. I really don't understand your problem and the personal attacks. But like I have already said FO!

To all WCK members and fellow hambers,

I've been to a lot of car shows in Santa Maria, CA and its not as bad as some have said on the subject on moving south. The fairgrounds are large with lots of grass. There is a '50's drive-in on Main Street to hangout at in the evenings. There a lots of hotels and motels, I'm just wondering if the prices will be fair in Santa Maria. In '81 the NSRA had their Nationals in Santa Maria and all the hotels jacked up their prices. Hope it doesn't happen this time. I'm looking forward to Santa Maria and believe it will be a positive move. Its all about our cars, friends and the the West Coast Kustoms. Penny a great lady and has done the right thing regarding the move, lets all support her and the club. A big thank you to HotRodHon for his insight. "Santa Maria or bust"

I to was born in SM and I still live here all this talk about crime is pointless dribble. In the 28 years I have been here I have heard 1 gunshot and that was on the 4th. The only downside is that everybody will be a little more spread out because SM is way bigger than Paso. The show is going to be great and everybody will have a great time. Everybody here can't wait for the fun, my family should have a couple of cars in the show(and both will have primer).:)

  17. I just went to Santa Maria for the weekend. Yes, it's spread out alright. There will be growing pains from the move. The 50's place is probably way too far from the host motel to make any sense to hang there. I could see people hanging at the Jack In The Box right across the street from the host motel. I'm sure there will be plenty of hot rods cruising that drag between motels. The motels may not "hump" us this year. But, soon as they figure out they can, they WILL!

ok, now i understand, your so pissed at the paso silly council that the continuance and health of the show is of no importance to you, nor the facts about the safety of the particpants.

    incredibly shortsighted carl.

  20. OH YEAH! I went to SM this weekend to scout cool motels. I settled on this one, and was told $125 a night. The NEXT day, when i called to book the rooms, i was told $140 a night, and i'd get a small break if i stayed for a 4th night (maybe to now suggest a 3 night minimum?). Wait til the 2nd year, when they have a feel for how big this show is. Not to mention, the owner of my new place is good friends with the owner from where i stayed in Paso. Seems they already have an idea

Does ^ mean your not staying at the Santa Maria Inn??

Tisdelski, the only reason Carl even mentioned Detroit is because I live in a suburb of Detroit. I do walk at nite in certain areas of Downtown Detroit and of course there are certain areas that I wouldn't walk in day OR nite. I can't imagine Megan and me wandering too far off the beaten path while there in SM. We are both really looking forward to the show already and seeing our CA pals again.

To all who live, lived planning on moving to Santa Maria. IT IS A SHIT HOLE!!!! Wake up, stop living in denial. To all that are planning on going to Santa Maria you will be O.K just beware of where you are, who's around you and what you are doing. I am sure we all have been to some rough towns just don't be a jack ass. Also PASO IS DEAD IT WILL NEVER COME BACK. It has been dieing for the past four years with the guestpo running around jumping on anyone who revs thier motor a little too loud. So R.I.P Paso and let's move on.

What are these "guestpo" you speak of? Are they furry little creatures with very senstive ears? Are they native only to the Central Coast regions of CA? Guess I'm lukcy I didn't rev my engine too loud--I'd hate to know what it would be like getting attacked by one.

  25. What did you think of Santa Maria? Was it super scary with all kinds of gangSTAR types like all these people are talking about?

It's been a few years, but I used to play baseball in Morro Bay and we'd travel to SM for games...not too scary if you ask me,,,but maybe that's 'cause I work in one of the worst ghettos of SACramento...

Groucho, where's the new place? PM me with details.

I like how some of you jackasses are going on and on about how "Paso is catering to the yuppy crowd", while in the same breath criticizing Santa Maria for "being too ghetto". You sound like a bunch if whiny spoiled bitches. The utopian city you'd like to see as the host for this event doesn't exist. Go to SM. Have a good time. Don't act retarded. Stop complaining.

Gestapo sorry for the spelling it looks like my spelling is as about as good as your typing (lukcy). The Gestapo was an oppressive german police group in WWII. No need to thank me for the history lesson it was my pleasure.:D

  29. It's a lot more spread out, and a little on the boring side "IF" you compare it to Paso. SO DON'T! It'll be fine. I'm afraid a lot of you jumped the gun and booked rooms at the generic places like Holiday Inn, Travelodge, etc. You'll find the majority of these places pretty far from the host hotel and the fairgrounds.

  30. i found a really cool place 2 blks away. nice and cozy. i'm not a fan of the bigger places
