I just got a hold of one. Looking for some inspirational pics. Its a face that only a mother could love.
Hey Reggie... Really nice one here in Salinas... 58 Buicks are great! http://www.deadendmagazine.com/arch_page17-18.html -Juan
Looks like a great start, already being that low! It'd make a nice, comfy, mild custom cruiser..... Malcolm
What do you mean only a face a mother could love????????? The front end and grill is what makes 58s. Looks like your chrome is in good shape. Lots of pot metal on these cars go to hell. Here is my 58. Its been subframed, bagged, shaved, stretched 10 inches, 455 olds motor in it.
Nice. '58 is probably my favorite year of the chrome and fin era. Lot's of very unique one year body styles. You've got a beauty.

The trip to the KKOA Nationals did it to me. Juan, that car in Salinas is super nice. Buick58, what type of clip did you use?
There is one done really well in a mag a while back I think it may have been a wagon though. Do a search on rod and customs site.
Plese post more Mr. Powell. for some reason I don't remember seeing to many pics of the Buick "From Paso this year..." Same one from Salinas... Can't wait to see what you do with this Reggie. -Juan
Good looking car Reggie. You are spoiled already! Soon you will be stylin', cruising in the A/C comfort!
Good luck with the car, I tried to trade him out of it. It was a great deal. What are your plans for it?
Hey Rod, I rember that car....I didn't know you built it. Super nice. Danny, turns out the '40 is a keeper for him. He offered to trade for my '34, but u know I cant do that. Plus, it lets me focus on the Buick. Ken, its my wife that likes the cushy stuff....thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
We've got a '58 Olds, I know the feeling. Lots of people don't like the '58 big cars. We got told once it was the ugliest Olds ever made by an Olds guy. I think the '58 big boats from GM make great mild customs, though. Selectively shave a little trim (the high-end models had just WAY too much), lower em a tad, and you're ready to go. The proportions are great, they just got a little chrome-happy...
The other great thing about '58 cars is that you almost never see another one at a show. I think the mess of 'one-year only' parts that make building em such a bitch has sent a bunch of them to the junkyard. For example, I've NEVER seen a tri-five chevy or even a '58 Chevy in a local junkyard, but I know where about 8 '58 Oldsmobiles are. Unfortunately, they're usually rustier than mine...
Kool!! Reggie is going to build a Kustom!!! Kan't wait to see the final build. Knowing you it is going to be kool. Here is my all time favorite 58 Buick. The Chop top is just perfect on the sled. I bet you know someone that could pull off the chop top. The front end just screams American made. Happy Trails, Mick
heres a few pics of mine. and no the engine will not be painted that color. That red 58 is sick I would love to know more about that car.
One shouldn't be able to read a post that fast........ Two more pictures of the same Buick that went through some Radicalization.
