Been planning on getting some old taillights to recess into the rear fenders (the I-beam bumper's being replaced by the bottom 1/2 of a '65 Tbird front bumper), looking for some ideas. Saw some early-Pontiac (1950-ish) style taillights at a swap meet, wishin' I'd gotten them. Any ideas?
59 cads recessed always look pretty good, I found some 49 merc's on ebay and put them on my 53, fit the contours perfectly. I realize the 57 is very different but if you just did a search on ebay of say, 49-63 taillights it would probably give you some ideas of styles and the like. I have about 40 or 50 issues of the little car mags from the late 50's to early 60's and that's where I get most of my ideas. I don't recall seeing any 57's but if I find one I'll give you a heads-up.
If you are just looking to put different lenses int he existing holes, look at late corvair tailights, I think they are almost identical in size
Don't have a picture but the top half lights off of early Intenational Travelalls look pretty good rcessed in other truck fenders
Toymont, lookin' at Travelall taillights on a search engine, is there a year yer thinkin of? Lookin' at a '73, not too bad, could be slick. Thinking more circular or triangular. Great ideas, guys. For the T-Bird bumper, gonna run rectangular exhaust tips out where the turn sig bodies were.
