I have recently had a career change and I'm looking for a little info on 3-D rendering and animation. I know there are some guys that are in the animation field on the HAMB. I'm also looking for workshops or programs to deal with. Any help would be mucho appreciated. If you can help just shoot me a pm, thanks!

If you want a free programm have a look at Blender http://www.blender.org/

If you want a easy to learn professional programm have a look at Cinema 4D http://www.maxon.net/
(I did those "German Tank on the Salt" teasers with that)

An other option is MAYA. I would stay away from Lightwave, MAX and Softimage, but that´s a personal thing - lot´s a guys got great results with those programms - yust not my way of handling/speed and workflow.

I've been very happy with Poser 7 and After Effects. I use them all the time in various video projects in combination with an Avid editing system.

You can check out the 3D animation I did for a short film we recently put together using these programs. You'll also see my 48 Plymouth - which may or may not be a bonus depending on how you feel about Mopar.
