Dave, those are amazing, great Job!

My daughter (9) and I are racing pinewood derby cars on Sat. night for the first time for an event put on by the all girl car club from S.F. named Hells Belles @ the Shooting Gallery this weekend.

Here's our cars, mine's not done yet and she still needs to apply her racing #'s to the car ...gotta get 'er done today!

    she named her car..."Road Rage".

There's also an artshow/charity/silent auction @ the Shooting Gallery in S.F. as well that night to benefit the womens and children center and here's my donation to the cause:)

    Thanks for the compliment!

Your cars are comming along nicely, one word of advice though - ditch those axles!!! Those one piece axles with the plastic hub caps are the absolute slowest for Pinewood racing! Go to your local hobby store and get a set of the nail type axles, then polish them up really good and don't forget the graphite! I promise it will be worth the extra effort.

Nice Job on your cars & good luck at the races!!!

I cannot believe the level of work coming out of these art shows. It is nothing short of incredible. Everyone does amazing stuff and has a unique style. It's cool when you can just see somebody piece and say "yeah thats definitely Norwell". The diversity of pieces while working with the same subject blows my mind. No one is stepping on each others toes. Keep this going.

    slide -- thanks man..appreciate it...
its just a hobby but it keeps the "hamster wheel spinning"
if your on the website again, check out my process page to see the "in progress" shots of the cars...
all the art is done on a PC in painter9.5 with a drawing tablet.
i only use photoshop to make the layouts to "present" the art...
hope it helps, anything else - just ask...

    damn.

    Glad you joined in.

You talk about using Photoshop as if it's shameful....Dude - art is art, if you had no talent you'd "eff" it up no matter what medium you use.....

I believe you could rock whatever you want to. It's just a matter of getting comfortable with something.

My art teachers all told me I would make a legendary airbrush artist. Oddly I've never done a single airbrush painting. Just couldn't get past the learning curve - so I never tried. Just give me some graphite and a piece of paper thanks....

And now that I am doing CAD stuff - I feel like I could do so much better with a PC than a set of pencils.

    No shame!

    ;)

    broman--
i think my gearbox is jammed (no pun intended)
i didnt mean using photoshop is wrong - its a great program & your right - art is art... i dont believe in "labeling" art
i'm a beachbum/newly baptized gearhead and long time listener to classic rock - clapton, zz top, allman brothers, eagles, zeppelin, sorry i'm rambling, and your right...

art is art, no matter what tools you use... bottom line...
its not about the destination, but the ride to get there
i just wanted to give proper credit to "painter" cause thats what i use to do my digital art... see its all good... no offense to the photoshop users out there.:D

    hope that clears it up...
and glad to join the HAMB

and yeah slide, those wacoms are the only thing to live by...
besides beer, cars, music, & women (no particular order)

Man, next week I really would like to post something. I just have to get some time to start drawing again. I just bought a new iMac a couple days ago so I hope that gives me a shot is the ass to do something for these threads. "MEZZO" looks like you are getting a bunch of good feedback and it is all well deserved buddie. In fact let me say it again. Everybody's stuff looks really good. As for me I also could not live without my Wacom tablet....well I guess I could if the other end was hooked up to a PC and not a Mac. Just Kidding. Great Job Guys!

    Zombie, Flyin'P, Monster, Nate---
Ya know, it's page 6 and there's just way too many people giving us there best to mention. I love when Norwell kicks things off with a bang! The stripe work is all so inspiring, and on, and on... ( Gas can's a real kick!)

So I couldn't let the day pass without a post of my own.

Here's a little brain storm quicky I whooped up as an idea for a future piece,...rough and ready.

I call it "New Ideas for Old Tin."
