I am hoping some of you photoshop guys can help me out by giving me an idea of how the caddy would look in a few different colors...ive been leaning towards a dark color (maroon, eggplant, blue, black), but i'm curious to see how some light colors (cream, pale green, etc) might look as well. if you could do versions in dark and light colors, i would greatly appreciate it.. i'm just having trouble visualizing some colors...i realize it takes some time to do these renderings, so i really appreciate whatever you guys come up with.

just dont do british racing green thats what im doing on my Plymouth. i say marron or eggplant for sure. no light colors

  8. Can't get the shine right without a lot of work, but this will give a general idea with Maroon.
This is really dead on with the west coast customs of the early years. You've got it right on.

I'm still leaning toward the maroon, Jim, but darker that the photoshops. I would definately think about adding a gold-bronze power to the paint, as well, like Barris used to do. You know I can help you out with the actual paint when it's time.
BTW, I put out a "contract" on JRussell...fugedaboudit!

Yeah Black Cherry would be sweet

  21. very, very dark green would look good. I agree that the actual color should be much darker than the PhotoShoped versions here. The gold dust idea sounds right to me also. IMO, the object of the early customs was to look expensive and elegant like the luxury cars of the era. And since you're STARTING with a Caddy, it seems to naturally follow. I think your car will be an influential car for many years to come. I know you're proud of it. And you should be.

Rick is awesome with the photoshoping he does. He's done a few on mine also and it helps sooo much when you're trying to visualize things.

Jim, tell me your almost ready for paint???
I think you should go with the dark green so we don't clash when I get priviledge to park along side you!:D
Your Caddy is looking fantastic, keep us posted.
I won't be getting to paint on mine until this winter, but I will be happy to get it on the road soon.

hey keith,,,,you are MUCH farther along with your car than i am,,,in fact when i see your progress pictures, it helps keep me motivated...i really want to go to the road agents show (especially because i'd get to see your car)..but i can't really spare the time at the moment,,gotta keep at the caddy,,,,missed about three or four of my goals so far,,,im really determined to have it at lead east no matter how far along it is by then,,,the plan is to put it in tinted primer (thats why im looking at colors),,install the windshield, bumpers, spots, caps, etc..,,take it to a couple of car events,,,then blow it apart over the winter and start prepping for paint,,send out chrome, and if i can afford it somehow,,upholstery (i know a good upholsterer thats been doing it since the late 40s-early 50s,,hes retired, but says he'd do my car).....im actually liking some of the light colors too (didnt really think i would so much)...

I showed my fab buddy your car, in progress. He liked Your work!

I think Black, with a little Silver fogged in or used for accent. A Cream with Cranberry flavor?

Your car, Your color. You will know it when you see it.

    How about a two-tone?
Maybe a deep candy red-maroon and black.

im not crazy about two tone for this particular car,,,but i really do appreciate the suggestion and the time it took for you to do that rendering.
