I am currnetly infatuated w\ a 55 chevy on ebay, wondering if I should give up my 57 wagon for this particular 55. The 57 has 327 4 speed and the 55 is a 350\350 combo. The 57 has a straight axle the 55 doesnt. I need some advice. Continue w\ the wagon or pursue the 55 sedan? I will eventually be putting a 13:1 406sbc out of my chevelle into which ever car I have at the time, if that helps.
Well, these are my thoughts ... if I, personally, had a choice of buying either of those two cars ... I'd pick the '55. But if I already had that wagon, I'd definitely hold onto it and see it through to fruition.
Yea, your probably right. It would be cheaper to keep the wagon and start building it rather than spend more money on another car that needs essentially the same modifications.
No offense here, but I really dislike cut-on 57's. 55's look pretty good with opened up rear quarters, especially if a guy uses Nomad quarters. ANYWAY, those fender flares on the 57 just ruin it for me-my vote is to go with the '55. I always think about the next owner(read BUYER) of a car I own, and I think the 57 (with the current rear quarters) would be harder to sell, and definitely (to me) de-valued.
No offense taken, I too dislike my current quarters. As soon as i get around to it Im going to remove those dumb ass flares. And get a wheel with some offset.
Now that's funny!! Keep the wagoon - lose the flares I love long roofs - I missed a mor-dor 57 on egay a couple weeks ago and have been jonesing since.
That's a hard one. That 55 is badass...I love 55's, but you are already going on the wagon..Might as well continue on that...
Wagon.... and I have a 55' sedan w/ straight axel. Oh and keep the wheel wells. Dare to be different!
Depends.. sometime you can try em for size first then make a decision later if one doesnt find out about the other. You might be supprised cause some models just look better stripped down Dave
