So, what did you like @ the roadster show?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Jun 16, 2007.

  1. Once again the LA Roadster show was great. Here is my list of the good and bad from my view.

Meeting some new hambers, bobby's crew with the belly tanker racer, seeing Evil again, meeting and have a really nice talked about family and hot rods with little man, hanging with ElP and the crew while selling parts. Talkes with Billy Gibbons for a little as well, meeting Pat Ganeill, and talking with Jimmy Vaughn. Going out to dinner with most of AZ crew and all most getting thrown out of the place for being to rowdy and pops was even there.

What I scored in swap= nice B1 vice mounted Beverly shear and complete gauge cluster for the 40 merc project and some little stuff from the vendor area.

Cars= the Cloria 3 window coupe was unreal in person, the cars that jimmy white's crew built were unreal as well. seeing the foose P32 was really neat and alot of good ideas.

The Bad= missing the HAMB greet since I was selling parts all day, dealing with assholes in the swap like selling a 5.00 dollar part and then the guy asking to break a 100.00. or how about the guys who says I will take that body for 300.00 never comes back till the end of the day after its loaded in the truck to go home and says I will give you 250.00 when I was already giving the body away at 400.00 compared to outragous prices on some of the sheet metal that was out there. or just plain cheap ass people in general.

Overall it was was great trip and taking desertdroog to his first LA Roadster show was cool. he was like a kid in a candy store. Nest year I taking the coupe and enjoying the show and not talking parts to sell. See some of you at the Moon X-mas show in Dec

    for dinner.

Good to meet you and nice to see Ron again..

What did I like best? Sold my 29 roadster Sunday..........didn't get to do the meet and greet stuff, cuz I was tryin' to stay by the car. I had my cooler full of beer, and my HAMB Alliance tag, but drank by myself. Delivered the car yesterday afternoon to Palmdale, CA and then proceeded home..........made for a long day.

Our swap space was one slot over and behind Circle City. I found myself eyeballin' that machine all weekend, and yes, that thing sounds plain bad ass. Bitchin' car for sure, as one would expect from Jimmy and the boys.

Probably so, we had about 12 folks from Phoenix using our space as base camp, we had a bunch of Olds freaks in our group.

We were the guys with the flatty powered '31 Model A highboy roadster parked at one end of our space and the early Caddy powered Deuce highboy roadster and the black, fendered Deuce Tudor parked at the other end.

Man, that's total BS! I was selling some stuff too. Early 50's wheel covers and early Ford stuff and manage to sell most of the Hot Items before taking a walk thru the swap meet. Nothing came up missing though. I hope that person(s) gets what coming.

    Best things:
Meeting west coast rodders and listening to their stories.
Seeing the difference in west coast versus east coast cars.
Looking at plenty of rare old speed equipment in the swap meet.

    Worst things:
    Hot sun!!!
    Little shade.
    $2.50 for bottled water.
High prices for stuff that didn't look like gold to me but did to the owner.
That the show was only two days!
