Has anyone ever seen or used one of these? First I ever heard of it. An Oxy/gasoline cutting torch.

  2. That seems like it works really well.

I read their comparison to acetylene..

I have an abundance of old gas..not varnish, but a little old for newer cars, that I could put to good use.

The only thing that scares me a little is "you will smell a leak" ..

Yes you will, and if you can smell it, flame can find it, then you go boom..

A buddy of mine is a blacksmith/artist & uses one of those. It drips gas as it is working & cuts 6" thick steel. That thing is CRAZY & great all at once...

We are getting one at work very soon. A few guys here have used them and think they are the shit. I seriously doubt they are any less safe than a regular torch. They are marketed pretty heavily to the fire/rescue set.

once you start your cut, you can turn off the acetylene (or gas) and cut (burn) with just the oxygen. the acetylene is just to get the flame started anyways...

    At almost $5.00 per gallon..

    I'll keep my acetylene.. Thanks.

Or just save the gas money for a plasma.

they are used quite a bit in the fire service, for rescue operations, we have a few of them on our rescue trucks.they operate just as an oxy/act set up just with the gasoline being more available at a fire scene.they are expensive, usually more than oxy/act.
