http://hometown.aol.com/nlocke7458/NorbsHistoryInDragRacing.html Don't know it if this has been posted before but wow, it's really good stuff. Do yourself a favor and spend a few minutes looking at this old dude's pics. He rules.
Pretty neat. Too bad the photo's are all washed-out. They need a pass to clear up the contrast. I like the vintage poster of "The Negro Racing Team of Stone, Woods & Cook" That's a period piece.
Great site! It was cool to see his old photos of both of the Speed Sport cars. I grew up in Tucson watching the Speed Sport cars at the old Tucson Dragway. I didn't have any photos of their rail, but now I do! Thanks again.
Oh My God, my Sunday morning hot-rod-church was as good as it can get. Sippin the fresh french roast coffee and hangin out with my cat, Rocky. What an insight to a very cool racing history, the shots of the old drags just take me back every time. Many super interesting things to see on this post. How about the poster saying, Negro Racing Team, Stone Woods Cook!! A novelty of the times I guess, but I constantly am reminded of the unbelievable treatment of our bros and sisters in my lifetime, and still have a long way to go. But this post is not to be missed, Thanx!!! for your sharing it with us_Sololobo
I e-mailed the guy to see if he's got more pics to see, and told him about the HAMB. Hopefully he'll sign up.
The 34 Roadster on the bottom of this page belongs to a friend of mine. I showed him the picture today and he said that's actually 1961. He won the Nationals that year. The car was running an injected Desoto Hemi. He still owns the car. http://hometown.aol.com/nlocke7458/page16.html Thanks for the Link.
I received an email from shane777 telling me my web site had been found by the HAMB group and to take a look at what was being said about it. WOW! I checked it out. I received another email from repoguy saying I should join this fun group. Well after some thought here I am. I have had over 620 hits above normal on my site during the last 5 days, I would say that this is from the HAMB group, thanks a bunch and I hope you all enjoyed the site. As for those that wanted to see more pics of my street cars all I can say at the time is I sure wish I had some of them now. Besides the cars on my site I had a 38' Ford 2 dr. sedan with a chopped top, a 1950 Stude, a 1952 Pontiac, a 1948 Ford Anglia, and a 1952 Chevy school bus (small), all were street cars. I have not found any pictures of them but I still have a few places to look. Again thanks for the interest in my site.
Welcome Norb, I really enjoyed your site. Lots of interest in 50s-60s racing here so you've come to the right place.
