Ive got a set of 53 "sombreros" that i want to mount on my 50 plymouth business coupe. Not sure how they mount to the original rims. Doesnt seem like a press in fit but i could be wrong. The plymouth rims ive got have bent up tabs that seem like i could get the caps stuck on if i pushed em in.
Does any one have a pic of a 53 caddy or GM rim just so i know what im looking for?
    thanks

I bonded my '53 Cad caps to the same size beauty ring 15" and installed them. This is a 1951 Chevy. The adhesive you use is important to keep the cap from flying off the beauty ring. i can't find the name of it right now, but PM me as a reminder, and I will find it.

geez - adhesive! wow! i guess it works cause youve still got the caps. im interested to know what kind of glue can rotate at 3500 rpm and still hold...
id almost rather have the original caddy rims if they would work or even be affordable.
thanks for the reply ill pm you...
anyone else have knowledege of these rims?

yes, the only way to put them on anything other than a 53 caddy wheel is to mount them to a 15" trim ring, and snap them on like a regular hub cap.

  9. Sweet. I got a set at Hunnert for my 55 Cad and wondered how the hell I could mount them to my 55 rims. Thanks for the link.

The best "adhesive" to use is a welder.

I use 3M winshield urathane to hold mine on. Not the black tape. you can get it at Autoozone.
