One of my favorite time killers. This one is John's in Seguin Texas. Popped in on my way to the swap meet in New Braunfels. Most of these are cars he won't part out, but a few are hulks from the yard to give you an idea of the sheet metal, etc. that's available. Way too much to photograph, so I only took about 30 pictures (plus the stuff I want, which is not included, lol)
Did you go into the main yard in the back? too cool, I love just going there and walking around...acres and acres of cars stacked three high.
last batch Again, I have no interst in this place. Just posting for your entertainment and edification.
JUNKYARD, around here that would be a used car lot! Every yard around here is rust up to the roof, even the window glass has rust!!-MIKE
Yeah, but it's too hard for me to focus among that much old tin. It makes my head spin. Thought I'd just show some that looked like builders.
It's funny, what catches your eye. I really like that plymouth hardtop in #13. 53 maybe? Also the pontiac in # 15 is that a 54 / 55? Better if it was a 2 door.
here 2 from my local yard. i go once every two weeks just to walk around. went yesterday to yank two wheels off a 49 ford and gave my brother the camera and told him to shoot everything. he was more interested in breaking windshields. but heres a little taste of where i go. probably a good 5-10 acres on the old car side. mostly late 40s-early 60s stuff we got a good laugh out of these mexicans...they had a tool set but insisted that a 5lb sledge and a chisel would work better
Every time I see these wrecking yard pic posts...I wonder- Am I the only one who thinks it would be really cool to be able to walk up to one of those cars, hit a button, and get a detailed story of it's history from assembly line to wrecking yard? The stories those cars could tell...
Sorry, I should have included that John's Salvage 2020 foxtrotter Road Seguin Texas 830 303 9300 As I remember it - highway 123 south of Seguin (maybe 5 miles?) turn left and follow it around to John's. Easy to miss the tiny sign for Foxtrotter, no sweat, about a mile or so down the road is another left with a white truck at the corner, has Johns sign on it. Turn left and left again on Foxtrotter.
hellonwheels. Good eye, that is a Stude. He has a lot of stuff that is fairly unique. They were unloading a pickup body when we left. didn't look real close, and I don't know those well, but I'd guess an early 50's ford pickup. Cab/fenders/hood and pieces. Looked real solid. A few years ago he had a shoebox ford 50/51 with a half plexiglass roof. I'd seen some later models 55/56 with that roof, but never a shoebox. I should have bought it.
Got to find somewhere like that that's closer to home. I can't believe the condition some of that stuff's in!!!
Went to a yard today myself. here's some pik. Some are from a yard in Veedersburg IN, the later ones are from a yard in Tecumseh IN. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/556676111ZtEjQb
I don't see any junk. Now if a shit load of hondas or toyotas were there then THAT was the part that was junk. My .02$. Cool pics.
Not hard to understand why junk yard owners get grumpy and hard to deal with when you get morons going in and breaking W/Screens. A good example of why so many yards won't let us walk around anymore and treat everyone as being a arsehole.
John's salvage yard! I've been there, before I moved to Houston. Cool to see someone else who knows of it. Me and my buddy wandered around there for awhile just in awe of the amount of post-war cars there. I'ma find me a leadsled there, I think. Hehe. If I remember there were a bunch of more complete cars out in front when I went.
