I pretty happy with how it looks so far.

I think I am going to lower it a little more. Maybe a reversed eye spring in the back and drop the front a little.

I still have never drove or rode in a hot rod in my life so I can't what to finish this.

My headlight stands are just temporary. I made them to play around with headlight location.

Hell of a hot rod! Specially for a first rod. Black wheels mean business.

I like the lights right where you have'em too. Keep posting pics.

Man, that could have rolled right out of the late 40's-early 50's with the way it looks and the ride height. No doubt, a bitchin' ride. Actually, the higher stance is not only very period correct but is a real joy to work underneath without having to jack it up. And for a size challenged individual, I need that.

  14. The higher stance is not period correct---What period??? The stance is closer to what most cars had in the fifties than you know. The salt flat racers drove lowered cars as in chopped, channeled, sectioned, etcetera to reduce wind resistance and get faster times. The average hotrodder in the fifties drove coupes that looked and sat exactly like yours does. Buy a stock coupe, unbolt the fenders and running boards, bolt on a 2 pot Edmunds carburetor, and go cruising. It was mostly only the "bucks-up" rodders who were able to afford to drive radically lowered cars.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

I wish I had a picture of my face when I rolled it outside, I had a huge smile. This is the first time I had a rearend under it and have been able to stand back and look at it.

If you leave it on the high side, then you can look down into those little jelly beans when you come to a stop light and you should be able to get a fine look at some legs on some of the girls. Nah. don't change it, you're doing good just the way it is.

    Congrad's on your build.

Are those Electroline headlights and Tailights? Slick car, pretty close to what mines gonna look like but I haven't been able to track down a set of those electroline tailights yet.

Super Ride. How much is it chopped? I used to live in Amherst in the late 70's and had a 32 hiboy on the road. Keep the look just like it is. What is the power?

Nice Car! - I would not change a thing! - Stance is Cool! - Headlights are Perfect!

  20. Looks really nice Myke. It's good the way it is, but a little lower wouldn't hurt it any either. Maybe a couple inches in the rear and an inch in the front.

I understand where you are comning from about not having ridden in nor driven another rod until you have yours done - my first time ever in a rod was my first drive of mine :) Great looking car - keep at it and posting.

You have really caught the look. Purely a personal thing but would love to see it a couple of inches lower in the rear but its awesome as is.

What running gear are you using?
