Dave, don't you find it sad how overrestored Burt Munro's Indian is? It looks like it was never ran, Burt, I'm sure, would've liked to see a few of his greasy hand prints left intact. Thanks for the pictures.
I know what your saying Nads, but its cool to know someone cares enough to have had it restored. The owner shows it as a tribute to his brother, who passed away & was the owner. He had some cool old pictures of Burt with the bike on the salt too.
It lives here, and according to the owner, it didn't go back more than a couple of times, it was kept for Burt by the Pierce family, and that fact was missing from the movie! Burt's hand built OHV set up
The bike is awesome it does look pretty restored but would look just as good in it's raw form. I put that bike on the list as one of the coolest pieces ever built, thanks for posting.
That blows my mind, exposed valve train, hot oil splashing on you at that speed. Yeah he lived, I'd never have the courage.
Jesus Christ!!!!! What the fuck is wrong with people? Dear shitbox builders, please stop embarassing the rest of us who actually know what a hot rod is. I'll give you one hint...hot rod doesn't mean "bolt on as much useless shit as possible i.e. skulls, fake intakes, gay-ass pipes, shit tied on with rope etc." I hate that I sound like the goldchainers that don't understand traditional hot rods...but fuck! Why do people build ugly shit just to get attention? I also hate that you are making me even think about YOUR safety. I won't even go into it. Please go over to the Donk world and play with them. Hey Dave, sorry to rant in your post, but I just couldn't help it. This would actually have potential for somone who knows what they're doing design-wise. This on the other hand is just plain ridiculous. I can't find anything that's cool or right about it. I can only hope that he's kidding. It makes me sad.
Kirk I can agree...It's a shame..I've been looking at all these Vegas Pix and there really isn't many cars in general that have the "Wow" factor.. it seems that the car seen has gotten water down..a sea of 4 door chevys and cars that are thrown together ,,,Scary Chicks with good asses... and then the "Shock" cars like that Rat thing and the Army Car and the stoopid shit that Ian guy builds...I just gave up on asking why.. I really look foward to Shows Like the Revolution and Asphalt..You just know that the cars are going to be right on,,Hand Picked.
In addition to my rant above, I do have to add that your pics show that there was actually a lot of amazing stuff there.
No worries Kirk, I posted "That Thing" as I hadn't seen it anywhere else, and I am in total agreement, it really was a "WTF" is that type of thing...not sure it even ran!
Does anyone know what these tail lights are off of? I'm looking to do something similar to my Fleetline. Stude? Thanks Tucker
Burt Munro's scooter is trick as hell & has got to be about the coolest thing ever built. And at the FAR other end of the spectrum is that shock rod ... to which, every bolt that was turned on it, was a waste of time.
I think that's the most important observation. I see so many of these "things" that guys spent countless hours on purposefully making them look bad or fabricating iron crosses and skulls. That time, or less, could have been spent actually making the car function properly and look cool.
