Anyone have some pics of the stand and the adapters/mounts for flatties, 4 cyls and other attachments. What are they worth?? Anyone have a K.R. Wilson or Manzel/Buffalo tool catalog/manual they would sell?? Thanks
I have a 1940 KR-Wilson catalog....do you need part numbers, for the engine stand, and the different adapters?...Ed
I have this old flathead engine stand that came from Blairs Speed Shop. I bet it was Don Blairs' from way back when. It doesn't have the original base or attachment but with the history it has I think I'll leave it as is.
Here is a picture of a flathead SIDE MOUNT engine stand that someone here on the HAMB made. I duplicated it. It bolts to the exhaust ports on the side of a flathead. The tube slides into a conventional engine stand base. The plate on mine is 1/4" thick welded to the tube at 45 deg. (exhaust ports are at 45 deg. to the intake surface) My tube is SHED. 80, turned down to fit the top tube of the stand. Notice the four holes at the center - either side of the tube - so you can bolt the holder to either side of the engine. (suggest you drill ALL holes 7/16" as the front manifold bolts are 7/16" - even 1/2" wouldn't hurt) Grade 8 bolts and washers makes it VERY sturdy. I used an old exhaust manifold as a drilling guide. (drill the mount plate from one side; then flip it over, bolt the manifold to the plate, and drill the remaining center holes)
Roughly 1927, 1931, and 1940 catalogs are available repro. You need all, as there is good info on concepts and techniques in the earlies. Winfield tool maybe?? The parts places have them too. I've got one from the end of theline, about 1957, and a couple of slightly later Manzels showing slightly different takes on the same basic tools after KRW lost The Ford contract. I've got lots of the smaller tools for rear axle work and engine.

Old thread but I now realize that we had a KR Wilson engine stand in the High School auto shop I taught in. I had it stuck off in a corner because one of the cast wheels was broken and I never took the time to round up or make another wheel for it.
I’m looking for a Manzel # 150 & # 151 Both V/8 Engine Spindle Mount. Regards Dereald Millsap Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
