I am going to be in Sacramento March 5th (a Monday). It's a solo business trip from Iowa and I'll have all afternoon and evening to kill. I have never been to Northern California before. What should I go see or do? Any Monday night cruise nights? Thanks. Carmak Riverside, Iowa Future birthplace of cap'n Kirk and the current home of a riverboat casino in a bean field.
Go on up to Antioch and see John D'Agostino...or to Auburn to see Joe, "The Candy Apple King" Bailon...DeRosa is somewhere around there close, I think... R-
Sac Vintage Ford is worth checking out...they close at 6, so I'd suggest hitting that up early. I can't think of anything going on that night as far as events. If you do go down toward the bay area, you might want to check out Gambino Kustoms (he's on here under that name, so check with him for shop times). OZ Kustoms is up in Oroville...a little over an hour North of Sac. Bryan
Thanks guys! I just found out I will also be there Sunday afternoon and evening as well as Monday afternoon and evening. Carmak Riverside, Iowa
check out willaminas bar in old town sacramento. good food and a cool place to hang out .It s a car guy type place.
There are two out there too...near Vintage Ford And definitely what SpeedAddict suggested. Bertolucci's is off Stockton Blvd., but it's only a body shop now. Still cool if you're into that kind of thing. Bryan
Definately go to Vintage Ford and check things out. Ask for Darold and tell him the Poor Boys sent you over, you'll get the grand tour. He's a super nice guy. I'll check the Crisin' News here and see if there's anything going on for those dates.
Cut and pasted from story about Sam: In later years, Sam grew tired of the hectic pace in Los Angeles and returned to the Sacramento area and settled in Carmichael to raise his family. He had married Joyce Lampson, his childhood sweetheart with whom he had two children, Johnny and Pam. Sam wanted his children to have the advantages of country life. He was an avid horseman as are both of his children. He worked as a fire fighter and later was elected Fire Commissioner for Carmichael, occasionally doing a custom job or restoring a vintage automobile in his home shop until his untimely passing from cancer in 1967.
I had skipped your post about being here on Sunday. If you get here early enough, there's a swap meet at 19th and W st, under the WX freeway starting at 6AM. It usually only goes to about noon or 1PM.
i agree! we love having visitors come check out the new shop...its certainly worth coming to see, lots of cool stuff always going on at roseville rod...
I loose power for a few days and look at all the posts I get! There are still like 100,000 homes in Eastern Iowa without power from the ice storm last week! I am absolutely going to go to try to check out Blue Collar Customs, Vintage Ford, Roseville Rod and Custom and Bertolucci's. I assume these shops are closed on Sundays so Monday should be a busy day! Does someone have an address for Blue Collar Customs and Bertolucci's? I won't get in on Sunday until 1 in the afternoon so I'll miss the swap meet but thanks for the heads up! Anybody free Sunday or Monday for dinner? Thank again to everyone! 13KustomMachine, I drive by Roseville Rod and Custom everyday going to work and back home. I never know about you guys, untill now reading your website. Very nice! Mike
Off of highway 50 @ Bradshaw, RPM indoor go-kart racing! Not quite like shifter kart, but a 100X better than those mini golf places. If you like to drive you'll enjoy it, and you can do it in the evening when all the rod shops are closed.
