You should not use stainless, that will put nickel and chrome into the bath which then makes it controlled.
Also any fume with nickel in it can cause pulmonary edema.
It is a pretty serious condition that kills 4 out of 10 people that go down with it.
Any regular iron or steel will do.

 

Works by line of sight, so you would need auxilliary anodes to the inside of a body.

 

It's just Red Devil Lye, used for drain cleaning. Many hardware stores have it, sometimes by a different name. Thanks to the cranksters, it is a little more difficult to find than it was two years ago. Wear gloves, as it will remove the skin from your hands as well as the paint from the part!

 

I think I'll just take it to the blaster instead but thanks for the suggestion....

Good old backyard iron gives the best results.

 

sorry to dig up an old thread but could i safely clean the inside of a 18 gallon gas tank without putting the hole tank in a large platice tub?
