wow! that's gonna look bad! good luck with it! can't wait to see it rollin'!

  4. I'm a believer in screw the cosmetics, get it running first, and forget about the cosmetics.

I took almost everything off the Falcon to get the Comet going and hopefully make improvements. I should be taking the Comet for my first drive today! The Falcon has it's original paint. The Comet was repainted by someone, the rear fender lips are rusty, but I don't mind. The chain is more rusty than the Huffy's frame.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

I too was horny to get mine on the road. I could care less what the body looked like. I wanted to cruise. So you want rust....take a gander at the Floater.

Yeah, and I think you have a rim caught under your oil pan, dragging that thing around will probably hurt your gas milage too.

Plenty of rust in the cab corners and along the hood front, around the bed, etc. Has the original 272 Y-Block and still hauls ass!

I sprayed primer on mine. I was tired of looking at the rust.

My 37' Cab is a little rustier than that one, but the lack of floors/rockers/lower doors forced me to cut about 7 inches off the bottom.

I read something somewhere where someone said that a each wrinkle in an old persons face is an experience, some happy some sad, in their life that they had survived. I kinda view the rust on my Ponch the same way. I know not a lot of people on this site are in this to "restore" their rides. Gett'em runnin and on the road, and if there is any money left get the modifications you want done. You can see in the second pic that the floor is rusted through. One of the car's previous owner screwed heavy gauge metal into the solid part of the floor and frame. Is it perfect? Hell no. But does it keep me from dropping my beer onto the roadway as I head down the way? Assolutely.
