yea really....its not like this board is about traditional stuff.????...these comments will always be here just because the Jalopy Journal IS a traditional board and not a street rod board....sorry to have to tell you guys this! I really dig the body and metal skills....hope to get mine as good someday!
swedish laws req. fenders, unfortunatly, and about the wheels, seems like many swedes and norwegians like that hi-tech look.
Well the way your making the fenders will at least make it look cool even though you have to run fenders. Keep us updated!
Cars and motorbikes registred as a 1952 or earlier model does NOT require fenders. Only newer or newbuilt cars and bikes. A lot of Swedish old cars and bikes are therefore street legal without fenders. The car in this thread is nice, but has nothing to do with traditional hot rods. To be totally street legal this rod will also have to be registred as a new model, which requires fenders. But who needs/wants to be street legal... Nice work...
IT is some very talented metal work...... and it is how he likes it ....it is what it is. ....any other comments are just being negative - you come off sounding like whiners.... I want to be able to fab like that!
This is truly inspiring. Ive just start scrounging 18 ga. steel for a similar build. I have a few bucks and hammer forms built and will start the build soon. I would love to see more pictures of the build in progress.
Nice metal work! the wheels are not my fave but who cares about my opinion. Keep us posted I wanna see more.
Hi gays and gals Ok, time to send some pictures on the projekt, I hope you like them. And yes, the wheels is still on Anders
Awesome work anders, love the metal fab, and kool that the wheels are still on, it sure does piss some ppl off
Volvo 240 1979-88 w/o PS... Guess that he's only using the steering column from a Volvo and is going to change the wheel... But I may be wrong as usual...
Hey Anders, That is one hot lookin' truck you're building.............! What metalshaping equipment are you using to form those shrinks in the fenders/wings? Pullmax, Yoder powerhammer? Again, a great lookin' vehicle! Swankey Devils C.C.
Dont let any of these guys on here tell you what is right or wrong with the truck. Many of the ones bashing this or cutting down the build, generally dont have a car or better yet could even build one one at all! They are just Fucking cyber hot rodders that think thier 2 cents of shit matters. The truck is nice and the metal work is great and when done should be quite a work of art. For some reason if you rock the boat around the hamb with say different wheels or an engine other than a ford flat head every one get all pissed off? Do what your doing cause the more people that are pissed the more that are threatend by the fact you built it and accually own a rod!! Good on you dude!
Hot Rod Packard has it right on the money. Build what you like not what others like. That is what makes it a hotrod, not the fact that the wheels are factory forty ford or that it is all origianal steel. Most of the guys on here have never asembled a complete car much less fabicated a bracket. But they sure are good with photo shop on the computer.
the shrinks are made whith a fork and hammer. twist the fork, left-right,on the edge of plate. this will give you an v-shape tuck. now hammer this tuck down, from in and out to edge. smoth with an e-wheel or hammer and dolly. one tuck shrinks about 2-3mm
nop you are right on your 2 guesses, s-wheel is from volvo 240 and the new one, home made. Hej förresten
Ah, the old "wolf's tongue" (shrinking fork) bit! Your shrinks look very uniform in pattern. They almost look Pullmax- like in execution. Will the welds be metalfinished or light fill and surfacer? Swankey devils C.C.
Well you according to the Swedish law you need to have fenders. But usually you get away with not having them, just a ticket now and then. Before we joined the European Union, it was mandatory to have mudflaps to. And it seamed to be a big crime not having them the police was all over you if one was missing, but now you dont have to have them!? And you dont even need to have fenders on Motorcycles either. But on cars you still need to have them.
The fab work is amazing, but fuck the kinder gentler bullshit, the wheels suck, I can live with the 4 banger and the IFS but the wheels are awful.
But we still are far away from the situation in the seventies... If you did any changes, or even worse, had built a new chassis, you had to crash test it before you was allowed to register it... Of course, nobody ever did that, and the hot rods built here in the seventies wasn't very wild, mostly fords upgraded with hydraulic brakes from '39 and 100 hp flatheads, anything wilder was usually impossible to register.
I dig it, the hamb police might not, but i really like the look it's taking on. the only thing I think personaly looks off is the seem in the front fenders, looks like the outer shell has a nice contour but the inner doesn't quite fit up to it. just my 2 cents. much better than I could ever dream of doing though, nice job
