Well once again you are going to keep me from actually doing any work here today and just staring in awe of these killer pictures, to me these pics tell so much and really what I enjoy looking at. Bob's (15A)roadster is probably my favorite post war hot rod, its a beauty and so inspiring to me. thanks...
Great pics again! I like in the third pic down, shot of the engine, the homade "Y" fuel line, all the rubber line and clamps....man things have changed Thanks again, and happy holidays to everyone! Chris
Amazing photos. I would love to see these collections put into a beautifully designed hardcover book. No words, just the pictures. I would volunteer my design services.
Absolutely awesome pics. Great clarity and I thoroughly enjoy scouring the pic background looking other cars and more detail. Need more 'stuff' like this as it's just neat to understand how and where hot rodding came from. Tanks a bunch!
Yes you are right about who Bob, Chuck & Rufi are. I will see if I can find out who the other guys are. Cheers Jimmy
Man Jimmy, you are setting some nasty standards here. I can't wait to see what you post tomorrow. Thanks again for the great pictures.
Thanks for posting those great pictures. I hope all the rockersillies out there notice what those old racers are wearing...not the cuffed levis, cigarette pack in rolled up t shirt sleeve pomade hair etc. Real hotrodders weren't concerned with that stuff..they just wanted to go fast!
Well!!! Lightening can strike twice in the same spot. What a treat, thank you for taking the time to share such a treat. Seeing the progression of "the roadster" was really a rare opportunity.-Gracious-Sololobo
jimmy b, great, great thread. I think the guy second from the left in the above photo might be Stu Hilborn? I hope this only adds to your great photos, I have coppied an old article sent to me by my friend Dan Iandola who sent it to me many years ago. Some of the pictures in it, the article, came from his collection, and some of them are the same as some of the ones you posted. Dan was also one of the last guys to own the Rufi car. He used it to drag race. He's also a member of the 4 ever 4 club here in so cal. I think he's been in the club since '55, give or take a year.
Being able to look at and enjoy these amazing pictures is like opening a Christmas present! Thanks, John
Great Pics, I'd like to see more. In the pics posted by Flyin-T of the Rufi car with the later owners, that rebuilt car a ran a Cook/Cyclone 4 port head and still posted some very fast times.
I got goose bumps just looking at the pics. Those are priceless!! I really like the personal notes on them. Thats were it all began. Awesome.Chuck
