Sweet! That motor turned over incredibly easily.

You gonna fix the brakes and take her for a spin to enjoy it in its original glory?

Im suprised that crank didnt pop back and rip his arm off the way he had a death grip on it. I always used the "spin it like a Airplane propeller" method on my old 41 Farmall B Crop Row, my brothers 36 Allis, and on my buddy's 30 Model A. Only whacked in the elbow once, ever.

    Thanks for sharing!

  8. Well - now you've come this far, you may as well see if it rolls...
    hope this helps!

    watch them thar arm breakers!

grandpa tells the story of watching an old man trying to start his model T.....long story short.....it ran over him.....he went in the house and came back out and shot the ole' T with a shot gun...

the next time the ole' man tried to start it, he tied it to a tree.....

  12. Aah, even in neutral, they'll always give you a bit of a nuzzle when the oil is cold between the bands...

  13. Four rules of hand cranking:
    1. Retard the spark.
    2. Make sure you retarded the spark.
    3. Keep thumb on same side of handle as fingers. Don't use full circle grip.
4.Always pull up on crank. It it kicks back, it will simply pull the handle out of your hand.

Yeah, that guy crankin' is a real dipshit....:D

    Update since this is btt:

We drove it around my yard a little Friday nite, with two semi-flat tires LOL. It was a hoot.

This roadster is an old hotrod, it has a T 4 banger with high dome high compression pistons, an atwater kent distributor and a stromberg updraft carb. As far as we can gather so far- it hadn't run in 40 years. We are still trying to get in touch with the 2nd previous owner, who drove it to high school.

This is the best thread I think I have ever seen on the HAMB.

Not bad for a couple of Jayhawkers. Or Wildcats. Or Shockers.

    Thanks.

What a great car. What year is she? Looks like a 26-27 cowl, but the hood, rad shell and windshield posts look older. And a 26-27 were more likely to have steel spoked wheels? What do I know?.......

  24. Never wear gloves when cranking an engine. This was really a scary video to watch. Pay attention to the items listed above. You were lucky and really stupid.

So, what have you done with it since the start up 6 years ago ? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see it again.
