    I'll start
My Dad's first car was a '50 Chevy convertible but it sure looks more like a 48 or 49, Mom said it was blue and on their first date Mom put it up on the sidewalk learning to drive, hahahaha 6823.jpeg

When my dad first came to Canada a 63 Parisienne convertible and a 62 New Yorker were purchased in his first year here .

when I had my 63 mercury Montclair‘ vert he loved that car as it brought him back to his single “ glory years !!”

Driving his brand new GTO. Here I'm pictured a year later with it. Can't show the car, but the 389 should be ok. Pops cut the top off my head! The Ford I can show you.

Mainly Hudsons. I remember 3 or 4. I learned how to drive on a Commodore 6, 3 on the tree. A friend of his painted it for $15 & my father told him blue & the guy painted it green. That's what you get for $15. Here's me in front of the convertible. How about my cool get-up? It was quite a car. It had a canvas trough that the top rested in when it was down & when the top was up, I used to sleep in the trough. Could you imagine letting a kid do something like that now? It was stupid, but the norm.

My Dad's office was in Manhattan. We lived in Brooklyn and he would drive in each day. I'm not sure what year his first car was but he got a new one every three years and they were all Plymouths until 1950. He had the 47 Plymouth when I was born but the one I remember was the 50 Sedan. That's my Dad going around to get in it. The dent is from a truck that hit him while it was parked by his office. When I was a teenager he had a new 1961 T-Bird. That was my favorite of the cars he had. Dad's Plymouth.jpg

I think mom and dad got the Lincoln from her folks, and later bought the Plymouth wagon. I remember the wagon, they sold it when I was about 4 years old, after moving to Arizona.

  11. Let me guess. Did he paint the tires too? Was your dad's friend named Earl?

  16. Several Tri5s, 9? GTOs, a Squarebird, an Etype Jag, a 70 F85 that Dr. Olds gave him to race in 1970 (sponsored racer) and hot lapped this a time or two. He was on Hanks sprint car crew when I was a kid

  17. To my dad cars were just appliances, not much brand loyalty, plus he drove them like they were tractors. We owned mostly Fords, but that had to do more with my mother than dad. She liked a car with zip and style. Her two favorites were a '56 Ford Club Sedan with a 292 4V and a manual trans (which I wrecked... :() and her last car, a '67 Cougar 289 4V C4. This one was bought new and I had her talked into a 4-speed model but the salesman queered the deal for me by whispering something about 'teenagers...' in her ear.

The real marvel is she never got a speeding ticket (that anyone knew about anyway) 'cause she had a pretty heavy right foot which both I and my sister inherited... LOL

I’d have to go through my moms “picture” trunk, but my dads first truck was a 40’s Dodge. He got it and another for parts to make a driver in ‘57 he traded them both off for a new ‘57 Chevy PU.
He told me the story, my grandfather wanted him to get that little sporty car on the lot (,57 Vette) and my dad told “pa, can’t pull a horse trailer with that car”.

Parent’s came to the States in 58. Dad had a few motorcycles in the beginning (the norm for Europe and no license required to ride one at the time). They saved up enough money and Dad bought a 51 Chevy Deluxe.

An International pickup. I wish I knew what year it was. I know it had a cracked exhaust manifold, and was very loud.

Quote from Jean Shepard (Author of "A Christmas Story") : "Some men are Baptists, others Catholics. My father was an Oldsmobile man." My old man got a new job as a traveling salesman in 1948. His company allowed him to pick whichever car he wanted. He picked a '49 76, a '51 DeLuxe 88, a '53 Super 88 2 door post:D, a '55 super 88 four door, a '58 super 88 (with the J2 option, thanks to my older brothers and my lobbying), and finally a '62 Dynamic 88, when he retired.

All I have is one lousy '51 Rocket engine in my "stash".:(

  23. I only knew Dad to have three or four non BUICKS in his life.

First was a 1932 he drove back from CA to AR in 1942. Last was a 1982 he had when he passed in 1995.

As far as I know, his first car was a Dodge, 52 or 53. From there he went to a 54 Ford, which started a lifetime of Ford products. First one I remember was the 59 Galaxie that replaced the 54 Ford. The 59 was traded in on a 67 Custom 500 that he kept until it got traded on a 78 Mercury Monarch. Before the Monarch, he bought a 67 Falcon as a second car, kept it a while then traded it in on a year old 71 Chevy C10, the only non Ford he owned in my lifetime. He also owned a 74 Mercury Marquis as a weekend car when he had the Monarch. The Marquis got sold, the Monarch traded for an Escort wagon. That wagon got traded for another Escort wagon. The 71 Chevy got sold, and a 94 Ranger took it’s place. The last vehicle he bought was another 500, it was a pos that Mom traded for a Escape after he passed away.

I grew up in Ford products, rebelled against them when I left home with GM, VW, Chrysler and Toyota stuff. But I returned to my raising, having mostly Ford products the last 25 years.

My dad somehow managed to purchase a 57’ vette at 15 years old. Was all white with a red interior, it had a 283 with a power glide. He would sneak it out to drive when his mom and stepdad weren’t around. He ended up selling it a couple of years later because of insurance costs. Sold it to a guy who turned into a gasser. Dad then bought a Corvair.

  26. I should add

In the early 70’s when FIAT showed up in Canada being a proud Italian he bought one .
Owned it for 6 months and stated it was the biggest piece of shit he ever owned .

he became a stead fast Lincoln / ford guy after that !:D

  27. First one was a '41 Pontiac torpedo two-door. Dad looks great in the hat and suit. The second one was a '52 Henry J, and I wish I had a photo of it. The third one was a '53 Willys Aero Ace hardtop. I overhauled the F-head 161-cubic-inch engine when I was 15. Sure wish I had all three now.
