Friday evening here down under, Hi again, first one is the Flinstone Bar, always great on a Friday afternoon. Fred was another collaboration, I did the drawing and my girlfriend painted it. Second one I did on an old oil dispenser. fullsizeoutput_54.jpeg fullsizeoutput_55.jpeg

    lowered 1950 Studebaker Station Wagon

    Hello,

In looking at the creations from the photoshop thread, it gave me an idea. This new artwork is based on a standard Studebaker sedan converted to a two door Nomad-style station wagon. For me, it is either an optical illusion or my tired old eyes on the drawing board have been playing tricks on my designs and straight lines. It started out as a sedan with the bullet nose, but then took on a character of its own.

The optical illusion may come from the curves and straight line drawings. I kept looking at it throughout the stages and the lines were straight and in tune to make the conversion. But, after many different versions, it still looks odd. Perhaps, Studebaker designers did it on purpose with their own original sedan shape and lines.
    upload_2023-4-28_3-51-39.png
When I put it on a mild lowered rake, then the illusion really comes to light. As if a big truck hit it in the rear and made the roof go up. But, the original drawing is still measured straight.

    Jnaki

So, changing the color and adding in some custom skirts made it look a little more calm and straight.

Indeed, a good Friday to all of you.
I love bullet nosed Studebaker's, so in keeping with the theme, illustrated by @jnaki
here are a few of my favorites.
    Thanks from Dennis.

  11. Here's another one of my mind's eye concepts. I wonder if it would have been a hit back in the day.

  12. I thought I'd post a piece of art that I have had hanging on my garage wall for many years. The story behind it goes back to when I first bought my 32 Chevy coupe from someone who was the first owners grandson. It was totally stock and in running condition but had a skip that proved to be caused by a bad intake valve. I brought the car home where I was still living with my parents in the early spring and parked it in my father's driveway where I was going to do the valve job. A friend of mine Dick Royer saw the car and decided to do an oil painting which he gave me when it was completed and became something that I have cherished ever since. Both the 32 Chevy and I have gone through many transitions over the years as you can see by my avatar but the oil painting has stood the test of time.

Just dug out an old sketchpad...and a story...

Back in the '80s my wife was driving '68 VW...and while it was sitting in the driveway, a tree fell on it and crushed the roof:eek:. I had an old '40 pickup project...
    0.54.jpg

...so I started messing round with some VolksRod ideas.

Well, I never did anything with the VW (junked it) and built this instead

  15. Blasts from the past. I wasn't very computer savvy and was really just starting out with creating digital art when I drew these images. This is them in their raw form, saved, unfortunately, as low resolution, non-photoshop jpegs. one day soon, I shall revisit this project and recreate them in high res, higher quality form
For now, here are the beginnings of

Mark, have you seen this instagram account? Search for zeltango. I presume the images are AI derived. Cool Stuff, mid-50's, sci-fi, etc.

Recently came back from visiting my folks and my Dad has finally displayed the model kits he built in his younger days...
    IMG_1506 copy.jpg

I'll try to post one each week, don't want to dilute their potency! This one looks like a fair number of the T-bucket rods folks are still building!

  25. I love the model, ratrodrodder. What scale is it?

  26. Thanks guys. Excellent way to end the month. :)

I've never posted here before, but I thought my little concept drawing was pretty good. I don't draw as art, but mostly to help me visualize actual stuff I'd like to build. This one is a mutt I've been kicking around mentally for months. I see a shortened touring with a bed and a full length canopy. The whole thing started with a ride on the parking lot tram at Disney World. The canopy keeps the rain off the shiny motor at car events and provides sun shade for my bald head. I went with a 4-71 blown Studebaker 289. Hope y'all dig it, and thanks for the platform! 968428CE-9581-4A18-A1EB-1BE883B647FF.jpeg

  28. Last year I asked my cartoon-drawing brother to sketch a few cartoons of my coupe and this is what he drew. 34artscotty2.jpg 34artscotty3.jpg

It's one of the Revell (edit: not Revell, Monogram!) kits from the 1960s, I think maybe 1:24 or 1:25? Each model is about 1ft long.

2nd Edit: Further research says it's 1:8 scale.
