If you read all the bullshit you have to go thru as a buyer plus the additional commissions I would stay home.

It very well may be expensive to get into the auction. But there sure is enough for the serious buyer to get his heart racing. 0A990A52-92A2-443D-BDAA-9EBC2881522E.png

a lot of expensive stuff, take a look at least some of the inventory pics. yep, they only want true potential buyers. not like your average estate sale. appointment only to view what is For Sale. Bidding is to be done online. might be in part from So Cal Speed Shop Siacramento that went out of business's some time back.

  5. It will be interesting to see what the parts bring. I didn't go far enough to see what the buyer's commissions are but I would think a local in driving distance could do well with this.

I started reading the “fine print” and tired out. Lol. 18% buyers premium is pretty steep too.

They should have found a company that knows what the heck they are selling! Too many of the lots are labeled incorrectly..... I hope that most of this stuff is purchased by knowledgeable people that can find a way to advertise it correctly and resell to those that need it. I hope engine builders like H&H are going to take a look at all of that flathead stuff.

18% as well as 8.75% sales tax?!? That's a lot on top of your bid!

Apparently was the `SF Flatheads` business, who ever that was.

LOTS of those French flatties. I cant bid but hopefully someone from here scores.

It's a timed online auction. You stay home regardless of whether you choose to participate.

15% - 18% percent + CA tax is typical of most any auction house here. Some add another 3% if you pay with a card instead of cash. I simply bake that into my final bid, and bid 70% - 75% of what I'd be willing to pay. (If I'm willing to pay $1000 for something, my max bid is $750). As a serious bidder, you're hoping that the fees and preview rules keep others away from bidding (as some have commented) and give you a better shot at a deal.
There's an insane amount of French flatheads, early rod projects (34 5/w), bodies, frames, components here!

Here the online auctions charge 10% buyers premium and then we pay 5% tax. 15% is a lot easier to swallow than the 26.75% for this auction.

I was thinking the same thing

  17. You guys should see what the auction rates are here . Take this example of a 4 cyl British Ford Consul convertible ( cheap 6 cyl Zephyr ) that spent all it,s life on sunny Malta before coming to the Netherlands. It,s actually built from a sedan by a British company called CarBodies who also did taxi,s. I stopped bidding when it hit 2 grand. Imagine what a 60 grand classic Corvette will cost.
