Hello, The photo looks like somewhere in the 1958 timeline, with a silver blue 58 Impala in the center of the photo. The cool thing was the 4 door Cadillac parked next to a 57 Chevy Nomad. The location is the Farmer’s Market in the Fairfax Area of Los Angeles. Just around the corner was the famous Pan Pacific Auditorium with its cool front structure. That place was one of the first locations to showcase the early automotive industry car shows every August/September with the latest from the factories. Our dad took us there in the early 5o’s for the shows and a nice lunch at the Farmer’s Market where we would get fresh produce for the family and goodies for the sons. One of the big attractions is the Television City location just up the block from 1952 onward. (live TV shows with audiences were recorded there...) Prior to that bit of history, the location was the famous Gilmore Stadium for auto racing and prior to that, a baseball field for Los Angeles pro baseball teams. (prior to the Dodgers coming out West...) Jnaki As history would have it, over the years of our 20 something days, my wife and I loved going up to the Fairfax District for the local scenery and delicious food at the Farmer’s Market and a funky place called Canter’s Restaurant. The food there is/was historic and it was a place for other local scene “rock” stars to wander in late at night. Then, jump up to the 2009 and the next generation of our family goes to the Grove in Los Angeles (Old Farmers Market) to visit the famous American Doll Store of Los Angeles. Our granddaughter could not have been happier as a huge smile came across her face. But, time marches on, as it has since closed and moved several blocks away in a larger store location. The Farmer's Market still exists with the new name of "The Grove," but it still has the feeling of the good old days...! It is a "Cool Roadside Attraction" for plenty of visitors from within the city or out of state travelers. YRMV
1956 was the first “POPULAR” year for factory installed or factory authorized multiple carbs eventho they were available on some cars in the 30-40’s. Edelbrock made a dual quad for the 256 Mercury in 1954 along with other engines. Everyone knows about Buick and Hudson’s, especially Hudson’s in the early 50’s but we are talking multiple on V8’s. Cadillac was early too but I believe top models only.
