Since the creator of this thread welcomes 4-door roadsters, here's a photo of my beater tub. There's no back seat and I use it like a truck for hauling groceries and parts. The red oxide primer is as good as it'll ever get. I'm not heavy into fancy. :)

    Hello,

A traditional old hot rod cruising down the coastal highway on a bright sunny 80 degree day. After the last week’s huge Southern Hemisphere swell, it has gone back to ankle biting waves for most breaks. But, the drive down the coast was still outstanding, if you don’t take into account that everyone else on a Saturday morning wanted to do the same thing, too.

If it is 90-100 degrees inland in So Cal, it is usually 70-80 at the shoreline, with a nice breeze coming toward shore. Or, some days there is fog so thick that the road we were on is covered so thick, the stop light is hard to see. Caution is a demanding thing.
    upload_2022-9-28_4-26-51.png
The driver and passenger were cruising around the cliff top area first, and then, the popular, coastal road for the best experience and views. They looked like they were having a great time. It was hard to take a good still photo around a large window van in front of us. But, by the time we were starting our up hill climb, the straight ahead drivers/cars were stopped at the red light. So, a drive by movie was called for. A point and shoot with the hopes of capturing something.

    Jnaki

As it turned out, it was a primered roadster (or these days, a possible "frozen, black ice paint" if it was so named) with a couple of guys out for a great day cruise. So Cal at its finest, 78-80 degrees, blue ocean, blue sky and a wonderful coastal cruise, heading up the coastline towards Dana Point/Laguna Beach for more. (or a quick on ramp at the I-5 freeway coming up after the photo/movie stop light…)
    upload_2022-9-28_4-27-40.png It sure looked appealing.

I had started drawing a 32 Ford Roadster without fenders several weeks ago for a different post. But, the weather + household stuff took over and the old man syndrome forgot about the project until this past week.

The late morning cruise created a surprise situation that was pretty fun and successful. The calming effect of the blue ocean, the waves, and the blue sky, along with a 32 roadster cruising down the coast, all in one day. Yes!

    Hello,

That color is outstanding. Nice!!! But, if I may, the shadows just make the nice photo not so appealing. The driveway is large enough for you to stand on a ladder and take a clear shot, devoid of any structures or neighbor's cars in the photo. Get the roadster in the middle of the large open driveway and if you are on a ladder, nothing should ruin the composition of the roadster photo.

That way it won't ruin a great looking roadster and won't have trees growing out of the body.

    Jnaki

These days, real digital cameras have a lot of competition from Phone cameras, Apple or Android. But, the composition is always prevalent in any photo becoming one that you would enlarge and put on display. YRMV

Even if one trims the overall photo, there is still the intrusion that makes the roadster photo not so good. JMHO

If you were on a ladder and the angle of the roadster were the same, it would be a worthy photo. Great color, components and build...

Last time I saw this work of art/talent was with it cruising the Broiler in 1989 when the owner was hanging with fellow Swede “Robert Kitilla”, PGAN’S fellow photographer when he brought back R&C, later his Hot Rod Video. While Robert Cruises his Hemi powered WW tire’d, K-H Bent Spoked crème yellow wheeled, Black Primered Gennie FoMoCo Deuce Roadster cruised through and hangs at a special cruise night.
I wonder if the same guys own it? imagine shipping that Hot Rod to the States and driving across the country and hit most places that we’d all like to hit.

This roadster is built by Charles Swordson around 1990 and he were in his early 20s when the car were finnished.
    He still owns it
Took these photos a couple years ago so the roadster is still as beautiful, I think this one is pure magic

That was my suspicions, as my late brother worked in several restoration shops in & around the L.A. area for several years & whenever paint color conversations came up it usually involved a color called eggplant, an awesome color for an equally awesome. 32.

wow, that’s one of the best b&w pics of a factory fresh 32 that I’ve seen.
Love the little bit of snow on the pavement, but that might be the northerner in me coming out.
    Thanks for posting it.
