    Hello,

During one of the early months of the pandemic lock down, we happened to be running some errands to the bank and getting some gas. We saw this cool Ford F-1 truck and stopped to take some photos from our car. Depite the full pandemic era, no else or a few cars were around in the lot, so no one went against any community rules, etc.

    Notes from an earlier post:

We have always liked old Ford trucks. In our old So Cal neighborhood, there plenty of old trucks running around the city. Something about the truck design and all-around ability to be of use around the household jobs and stuff. We have seen quite a few and have seen some glimpses of others still cruising around. One day I will get photos of those we have seen from a far distance or a quick glance down a side street or two.

But, here is one we saw in a large parking lot and my wife spotted it from quite a distance away.

The owner just happened to get one of the coolest license plates for such a truck. You will have to see the complete truck to get the whole picture.

But, since then, the only truck sighting was a far away viewing on a major coastal highway. It was going the other way and then it disappeared from sight until Friday. Almost a year of no sightings, so we thought it was not a coastal community hot rod or they moved out of the area.

My wife and I were running some errands again yesterday and stopped at a deserted coastal bluff park. The normal location was so isolated that not too many folks, except for the locals, know if its existence. No playground equipment, no benches or tables, just a nice quiet park surrounded by trees and a wonderful view of the ocean. It is one of the most hidden parks in this whole South Coast coastal area. But, for the pandemic ocean view calming effects, this hits the spot anytime of the year.

We were always impressed by the 180 degree + views from the neighboring homes. So, as we were enjoying the sun, the calm ocean and endless views, my wife noticed what looked like an old hot rod truck in a driveway below us. It was far away, down the steep, cliff side slope, so the identifying items were hard to see. That is, until I used a zoom lens on the scene.

To my surprise, it was the same Ford F1 pickup truck from over a year ago sighting and photos. Since we have not seen the Ford F1 pickup truck in over a year, we thought it was gone from the area. The current photo shows that they are still around, either they own that massive beach house or are renting it because they are doing remodeling to their own current home somewhere in the area.

We know about home remodeling and being displaced from December 2022 to late January of this year. We were able to live in a small bedroom while the rest of the house was empty. It was our respite from the destruction and repair that was going on for that time period.

Old hot rods look good in any location, close by or far away… YRMV

Went to drop off a speedometer today at a customer’s shop and saw this 34 Ford from Brazil, a real survivor. Runs and drives great.
