I like it! Looked good before but looks more like a bad ass hot rod now IMHO.

IMG_0852.JPG I have the hood bolted on to the factory hinges which were all folded up. You just have to be creative when your old and worn out. It still has a ways to go ! IMG_0851.JPG

  7. Other than driving my Buick to go pick up my daughter from work Friday night, the only thing I accomplished was rearranging the shop some starting with getting the boat out. Trying to get organized so I can get some work done.

  8. Made it out to the shop Friday and tacked together some tailpipe offsets, going to bring them home and finish weld them. Need to shorten the pencil tips; but they no longer try to occupy the same space as the bumper guards. Started fitting some tack strips into the A pillars.

  9. Making patterns and a test piece to make sure the bend and angle are right for this bulkhead, still not 100% how I'm going about it but I have an idea lol

I got the hinges and the hood installed and adjusted. When I started this build I framed the firewall with some square tubing eliminating the factory hinge mounting holes. So I had to redrill those thru the tubing. ( I have a couple dash/steering column support bars bolted to the backside of the tubing ) You can see in the one photo I always drill a small locating hole in the hinge to the body for future reference when having to R & R a hinge. Now on to the hood, I have two to choose from I am going to use the worst as the it is original to the truck and the paint matches. The down side being it has several cracks that need to be repaired. 11. Worked on ergonomics, trying to fit everything for a 75 year old man (me). I figure the seats will just about match my bladder range.

I got new seats for my Mercury, the front seats have many broken springs so it was going to need a parts seat and found someone parting out one that was power so I grabbed it. I also noticed the rear seat had a center arm rest so it also came home with me,the new seats are cloth and the rears could be installed as they are but the front has a cheap cover so who knows how it is. Most likely will be turned into a reupholstery project very soon. IMG_20230204_170748209.jpg IMG_20230204_170748209.jpg

  14. While my current project is not hot rod related ( per se) the 49 Lincoln I’ve been sitting on for 20 years sold for $1k yesterday. I am happy.

Drove to the NHRA Museum for the 200 MPH meeting. 75 miles round trip. Open freeway for the 9:00 am start. 70-75 mph. Car performed flawlessly. Thinking of venturing out farther and enjoying the weekends more.

  17. It seems that the parts I needed to fix the heater in my beater 56 wagon are ungettable so I bought a cheap hot rod heater from speedway and installed it, Surprisingly it works quite well if all a fella wants is to be warm.

Wish would have known. I boxed my original up when I added AC/heat. I needed to keep the controller for the right side air. You should have asked for one on the HAMB social page for 52-59 Fords.

  19. Yesterday I figured out that I did not have wheels with tires on them that would clear the brakes on an old chebby I got on a trailer. I finally figured out that I can put 14s on it backward. I hope to roll it off the trailer today.

The wheels on backward make it look like an old stock car. LOL

Yeah man, I dunno about there, but today is the first warm up in Michigan. Supposed to be almost 50 Tuesday. Gonna swing by my barn today and check in on the hot rod and boats. As soon as it warms a tiny bit and the salt is gone, out comes the shoebox. Can't wait....

I started fitting the trunk floor. Front piece ready to tack. Working on the mid section now. I never get as much done on the weekend as I figure I should.

The hood I am using needs a little TLC. After scrubbing/grinding the first layer of rust off I added a couple reinforcement patches and hammered out a hat channel to add to the center where it has some rust issues. I have to go back and cut out the hand holds in the front patches where I will use hood pins to hold it down. IMG_0874.JPG IMG_0875.JPG IMG_0877.JPG

  29. Installed new u-joints in the drive shaft. Lowered the rear end a bit (back were it was) , re-set pinion and trans angel and installed the drive shaft. The old dragster scoop is painted and done. I will get some pictures later, I'm tired.
