On another thread I picked up a 41 Ford coupe. I've got to buy some tires soon so I can drive this thing around. For sure I'm going to get bias play White Walls. Looking to see what others have done. It's lowered about a couple inches in the front right now and about four in the back. It's got 15 in steel wheels on it now but I also have a set of 16s. I've got a 670 15 Coker white wall that I'm putting on a wheel right now so I can see how that looks. I've searched the search forms but would like to start another new thread on this. Please see if your car is lowered or not and what size wheels and tires you have Etc.

6.70 15 sounds like the perfect size to me. People seem to have trouble with the Coker 16 inch tires I have no experience with them but I do have 3 cars with Cokers BF Goodrich silvertown 6.70's and they are fantastic tires at all speeds and balanced up nicely

So I got the spare 670-15 mounted and installed on the car and it looks a little short and doesn't fill the wheel well. I do have a 2-inch more dropped axle I can also install but I'd rather not do that at the moment. I'm thinking the stock tire which is a 600- 20230124_083443.jpg 20230124_083209.jpg 16745787052932446653433253512328.jpg 16 will definitely fill that up but at the same time raise the car.

Also I should add at the 15-in wheels that are on the car are 5 1/2 in wide so a regular 4-in or 4 1/2 in will suck it in and actually raise the diameter of a hair

  5. Appears that a 6.70-15 and 6.00-16 are the same basic height of 28.5 inches tall. So, not going the change the overall look much.

The 67015 is mounted on the rims I have measure 26 1/2 maybe because the rims are too wide. I have some brand new 600- 16. Coker radial look-alikes here on a 4-in rim and they measure at 28 and 1/2 in just like they should.

I just measured my 6.70's on 3 cars all measure 27 3/4 diameter one car has 6 in wide wheels and the others are 5 inch. all measure the same

  9. Hmm...I have never measured mine, but they were definitely taller than the 205-75-15’s I replaced. :D

Yep these are the Coker classic models that they list in the catalog of being 27.25 tall so it seems about correct that they're 26 and a half on the car. I think I'm going to go with the 670-15s but probably go with bfgs or fire stones. Now what with white wall would have been correct on this? 3.25-in, 2.50?

It is my belief that if you want your car to look like an early build that you would use the wider whitewall. the narrower whites were introduced in 57-58ish so they are more correct for a later build. If it were me, I would use the 3.25" on your car

Well being that I'm a dealer for Coker I called them up and they had the tires in stock that I needed. Ended up going with the Firestone 670-15 with the three and a quarter inch white wall. They should be here tomorrow. Now wondering if I should paint my rims or not while I have the tires off. They're kind of gray silver right now. I'm going to run skirts on the back so you won't see much and on the front a full hubcap so you'll see just that half inch line of paint. Was thinking black or red not sure or I may not paint them at all right now and just see what happens

Yep I think the red stripe between the hubcap and tire would look good. I'll go through my spray can assortment and see what I've got color-wise

  15. X2 for red considering how little will show with the full caps. Also, I like your choice on the tires!

Looks like you figured it out but I’d say even though I’m a 16” ford wheel guy if I was building a custom 15” wheels would be the way to go if you’re wanting to run a full wheel cover with out way more work.

Since we're spitballing opinions, I'd have run the smaller white, and I'd paint the wheels metallic gold or orange.

Don't worry, anyone reading this thinking ("damn he's fucked up") won't be the 1st. Black is boring, blue, green or yellow is silly and trying too hard, red is so trite and common. Live a little, orange is almost red. Gold? Well, why the hell not?

  19. Lol...I can agree with red being overdone. I like both the gold and orange suggestions every bit as much as red. My son thought I was nuts when I suggested the basically magenta wheel color for his Edsel. But, it also worked from what I can tell. :D

Very nice Coupe, care to share the exact color of those Wheels. Looks like a dark maroon, looks very nice May lean towards that

I got the tires in today so I got the rims off the car and painted them colonial red from Rust-Oleum. Turned out not too bright and not too dark. These tires are definitely taller than the one white wall that I took off the car and fill in the wheel well a little better. I think that dropped axle might get installed sooner than later , Now for some caps and skirts 20230127_162520.jpg 20230127_162543.jpg

Here’s one I built. 6.00x16 tires, mildly dropped axle, reversed eye front main leaf, flattened rear X member, 4” rear shackles
I think the speedboat stance on yours will look great when you get the skirts on it 8390ED74-FC62-48D2-B9F4-B44AF873E179.png
