.......it is a really nice looking quality wheel overall I have seen a few of them its 15"x4.5" wide have seen some identical that has SCC cast into the backside if that means anything to anyone ?? the back casting design is not like most ansen american us indy ect wheels of the era. anyone got any idea who manufactured them ? or have one or a pair of wheels in gm 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern
I agree,Pete, is the name it should be called. Now, does anyone have any idea, or an old memory who might have manufactured Pete?
I think it's *not* a Fenton Gyro like these: -The front center (where the lug nuts are) on yours is slightly raised instead of countersunk. -The back of yours lacks the strengthing ribs. Hope this helps.
Dunno, but I've got a pair of 14 x 7 x 4.5 and a pair of 15 x 7 x 4.5 that look like yours but have no markings. No idea who made them but wish I did.
So you have no markings or does it say SCC? Sometimes those unfamiliar initials are the foundry that cast whatever it's on. If Pete needs to know who mommy or daddy is then I'd guess J.C. Penny. Those big retail outfits would have unbranded stuff made for them by the big producers. Their logo went on the cap. Sears and Wards had stuff too. For that matter Kmart sold wheels n tires at some outlets. Not junk, just not branded. It's a theory, I guess...?
First set of aluminum wheels I ever bought I got at KMart. They were ET’s. IIRC, they had some slots like that also, or maybe just similar. That was 45 years ago, I’ve slept a few times since then so the memory isn’t as sharp as it once was…
My 1970 Sears and 1977 Wards catalogs do not list any skinny slots. 6" is the narrowest. Those wheels have a lot of back space compared to the skinnys I have on my Chevy II. Which I also have never been able to ID. Nice wheels. Pete is a better name for them than Bob. Although it seems each wheel needs it's own name, identical twins are confusing enough, with different names. I should know.
I don’t think Ansen rolled out to the rim bead . I think a flat squared off surface between center and bead . Just Gary , any idea what finish is on those in the image ? Thanks and be safe
As noted by Squirrel, lots of back space. Often those were used on them foreign jobs. Brand? I do not know.
They look like a pair of shelby california 500's I had but they were marked. I'm of the mind they are generic wheels of some kind but sure look like shelby's. Lippy
