Was only talking about him a couple of weeks ago with someone that has known him for years through hot rods rather than music, and Jeff had messaged him about something to do with one of his '32's.
Bacterial meningitis is what killed my grandfather as well...:(

  13. No-one, no-one could play like Jeff Beck. And he was a genuine hot rod guy. I saw him play in 1977 and he was wearing a Pete&Jakes t-shirt. I was probably the only person in the audience who got that.
    RIP Jeff.

His right hand technique, nobody plays like that, he developed that himself and as a guitar player it blows my mind. He was always pushing the boundaries, as a youth he was maybe the first to take the distortion from pushing his amps too hard, and intentionally cause it and use it musically. Truly one of the very best.

This is the album that I really learned about him from. I knew he was part of the Yardbird, but I was too young and really didn't grasp the significance. But this album changed everything for me. And it introduced a couple of new guys to the scene, a singer named Rod Stewart, and his bass player (Ronnie Woods) ended up playing guitar for the Faces and later a little band called the Rolling Stones.

  27. A classic. If you claim to be a rock n' roller, this should be in your music collection.

Agreed. I think I still have the vinyl. Probably in pretty bad shape though, the old record players were hard on records.
