Event Coverage The LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma, Wa. Reclaimed Rust

This is a daunting project and one that I hadn't planned on posting but, after getting home and looking at all the pictures I took, 250+, I think you all have to see them - amazing rotating collection. These should at least make you consider trekking to Tacoma to se the LeMay Museum which is situated right beside the Tacoma Dome on I 5. If you can jam in a visit to the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle while you are at it, you will be rewarded with more than just sore feet. Reclaimed Rust is a smattering of James Hetfield's personal collection. The rest of the shots of the LeMay collection on display are dizzying in their variety. I only took HAMB friendly pics but, there was something for everyone, Euro, Race, Brass Era, etc. Went a bit nuts over the Lincoln Zephyr. Here goes.

That's it for Hetfield cars - well, there was a Lincoln - 'Dead Kennedy' but, it has big wheels. I'll dig into the LeMay Cars as time and energy permits.

A trip to the LeMay museum has been on my bucket list for a long time now! My old Austin gasser was purchased from the LeMay back when the county there forced them to get rid of a huge number of project cars they had at an outdoor storage area.
I've always wanted to make the trek north to see the museum, and maybe drive my old Austin up on the trip too!

 

Lucky enough to have gone twice on my visits to Tacoma. Amazing selection of cars.

I am wheening out the Duesenbergs, muscle cars and sports cars. Quite of number of Pierce, Lincoln and Cadillac touring cars in incredible condition. Going from small thumbnails so if a few off topic cars pop up - oops. Had to throw the Steamer in there and some touring cars just to give you a flavour of the variety. Back to the HAMB friendly's.

 

How about a Bronze Cobra - the only one in existence.

Lived in Texas for 75 years—-youngest son lived in Seattle—-told me about the Lemay museum(he’s not a car guy,he is an excellent musician) went to visit him and he took me to the museum—-the WOODEN superstructure is beautiful. Ever see or hear of a 64 Buick Wildcat convertible made from Fiberglass—-gorgeous car —-they have one at the Lemay—-looked like a beautiful restored stocker but was fiberglass from GM.The pics I posted were actually from the Peterson Museum in Cali.

 

The Museum cycle their displays so you could likely see different cars based on time between visits. There are muscle cars, motorcycles, electric and interactive displays. We took about 4 hours and I felt we zoomed through just to get through it all. It would take multiple visits to do it justice. This is a wrap for the posting. I'll pick up again tomorrow. Lot's of photos to get through. Unfortunately some of the cars are jammed together pretty tight or there was a post beside. Play as it Lies I guess.

Sharp eyes will notice 'Christine'. Not THE Christine but, a close copy nonetheless. Thought to avoid cars with a column obscuring it but, some exceptions have to be made.

 

OK - The red Rambler is offside and I feel guilty but, as a 2008 Ridler award winner it needed to be in this photo dump. Why - because it's a Rambler!

 

I got stuck in front of these race cars and I couldn't leave. Have a bit of a crush on the Marauder. You can damn near hear and smell them.
