David Frieburger posted on Instagram he purchased this '39 Deluxe with a '55 292 y block built by Iron Trap garage. I'm sharing the video...what a save!

  2. Did not know Dave got the forgotten Hot rod. Hope he enjoys it. Matt is a great guy.

A 426 Hemi wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen...

292 introduced for the '55 model year, continued until '62 in cars and '64 in trucks

I knew he was selling it but am surprised Frieburger was the buyer. He already had a 1940 Ford, it was in a Roadkill episode several years ago.

also you realize Freiburger and road kill are different. Ones is a person with a pretty
good car collection, and the other is a tv show he does. He’s got plenty of neat old cars that aren’t zip tied together

  20. I was watching the eBay auction, the sale price was a little over $16k. Neat car, I watched most of the build videos.

55 Thunderbird and later production cars. Law enforcement got them in 55 if they wanted. A slightly bigger bore was the only change. 312 was a .050” overbore, longer stroke and shorter rods. I’m hoping he keeps it a Y block like it was built.

It will be interesting to see what Frieburger does with this car. It was so rough when Matt hauled it out of the swamp behind the wrecking yard that anything will be a step up from what it's future might have been. I'll be watching.

  25. True, Dave has well over 20 personal cars. He likes Jeeps as well.

It still has the T-Bird air cleaner with the cork seal on the top. It seals the hood in front of the hood scoop on a T-bird.

Man, I'd hit that body with some CLR and a Scotchbrite pad, and then rub in some Penetrol, tht thing would look 100x better.

I’d hit it with some sandpaper and put some kind of low buck paint job on it!

It has the Thunderbird thermostat housing, extended waterpump housing and higher mounted generator. All T-Bird stock parts. It also has the big truck ram horns. A nice touch.
