A month ago i got new headers for my 250 chevy in a c10 not much info i was given about the headers themselves except that they are hedman and the may have been for a camaro. i attempted to put them on but they so close before the collector end hits the z bar what should i do? ive heard people heating up and moving the arm, shaving, or outright cutting and welding it farther away. this is in a 1964 c10 whatever is the path of least resistance tell me
Easiest...?!!! What saltflats sez. Does it hit the actual bar or the arm hang from the bar? Dead center or just barely hits it? Can ya reposition the Z-bar bracket that goes to the frame? Moving it back just a little... Picture is worth a...........(you get the point)! 6sally6
Considering modifying the Z bar has the potential to change ratios or leverage to the pedal, it's the last thing I'd change. I'd go for either a correct header for the C10, or modifying tubes on this header if you just have to use it. As mentioned, pictures of what you've got will help.
I'm guessing the header wants to go right through the center of the Z? Make the bar go up and over, or under, the header. Keep the pivots in the same place, but cut the middle out and make it go around.
oops! I thought I saw 350 in one of the other threads.... I'll wait for the pictures along with every one else.
Get the headers for a truck . Passenger car headers are of course different. I have a set of new old stock with stickers still on them . You may or not be as lucky. You also can fab your own set or modified as stated. I haven’t decided if I am going the way of headers, split manifold or stock . Good luck.
These headers hang pretty low to the ground. If your truck is lowered, they will probably drag on speed pumps. I think since they also fit the 292 engine, they are a couple of inches to longer to fit the taller 292 block.
