I thought the Sprints had a more squared window with a smaller corner radius. I have always thought they were Champs.

The shape and size of the window of a Halibrand wheel is many times determined by the size and offset of the casting.
Besides the "big window" wheel, Halibrand offered (I believe) a wheel called the "speedway", this may be one.

After having American Torque Thrusts for 5 years I’m leaning towards a change to Halibrand Sprints since I can get them in 15x6. Polished look great especially on Pat Ganahl’s pickup but I’m looking at the natural without polished outer edges. I’m guess I’ll ask Moose and see if anything happens.

@Ryan , what a dick. We only get 1? Dafuq, over. I can't because the wheel has to fit the car.

The beloved natural 5 spoke is an easy pick. A Cheetah isn't without em, but as posted who can discount Li'l Coffin? Big window Halibrands can't go on everything but on a more drag inspired build there's almost no other choice. Somewhere in a grey area is the 200-S as seen on the TLB 55 (perhaps pun intended cuz the color). Many could argue that's too late but how traditional is a 55 straight axle gasser? Or not...? The use of Indy Halibrands has taken off more in the last decade, and I'll go out on a limb and say some are nearly a cliche' and something better would work. So, both of my picks where no better wheel could be chosen are 55s.
So, for early sport type Halibrands this one's unbeatable:

For drag inspired from that grey area I mentioned:

My picks for proper mag selection that give the car an identity. Kinda what we're on about here, no? Yes? Maybe?

reading through this thread makes me wonder how many posters here actually read and understand Ryan's intentions here...This is NOT a "what are your favorite mags" thread... This is however "PICK THE BEST CAR EVER BUILT WITH MAG WHEELS" huge difference. So how many here saw the title and did not read the blog post?

Yeah Mark, saw it, read it, even picked up on Ryans later comment, but you know how this bunch (every single one of us) are about wheels, especially when we see MAG WHEEL.
We actually lose all sense of reality, I honestly can say it's a "Bambi in the headlights" kind of thing with me, has been since day one, maybe even before.
I swear I came out of the womb crying
    MAG WHEEL food MAG WHEEL.
Cripes, if I was a bachelor (not pointing any fingers) I'd buy more wheels and store them in the kitchen cabinets!
I'll try to do better but not making any promises!

  23. @Moriarity I was just thinking the same thing!! Not that any are "bad", but I can't see "best ever" in some!

@Moriarity I got it. I just think you can't narrow it down to 1 car with only 1 type of wheel. Kinda like a guy with an early Vette, a bubbletop, several show rods and kustoms, which is the best ever or of all? See? See what I mean? It's not a Cheetah without the ET/American/Fenton type mag, it ain't the Two Lane 55 without the Americans, and it surely is NOT Simard's 55 without those Halibrands. Some can't use a mag and steel wheels are best. Sometimes the only choice is a wire wheel. It wasn't @Ryan 's Riv without Boranni knock offs. So how can only 1 be chosen is a legit query. Hey, my story so I can tell it my way. :D

you might be over thinking this. The best car ever built (in your opinion) that has mag wheels. You used my cars as an example but I only have 1 car with mag (alum) wheels and that is my Futurian bubbletop. While I really like it, it is in no way the best car ever built with mags... november22.JPG

The Black Widow SWC car is the best car with mags.

With all due, uh, affection (?) I used your cars as in "pick one" and nothing else. I couldn't pick just 1 of yours either.

Frank or Dean? Chocolate or vanilla? And 1 other thing, conspicuous by their absence, not a Cragar in the bunch so far...o_O
