    Banjeaux bob: thanks; I did look at a bit of the article (will read it all) and saw that it was Peter Whitehead, not that I know much about him. Here I was thinking that the ERA might have been imported by an Australian racer and then maybe 'lost' here somewhere in the passing years, waiting to be found.

    (The primotipo site looks very interesting; I first saw the site several weeks ago when it was linked to a Hudson/Terraplane racer 'special'.)

    That Amilcar C Cab : I love it. I came accross a De Dion Bouton "delivery truck" once 30 years ago but the guy wanted to sell it as a package only as a donor to restore the De Dion sedan he had for sell. I'm a sucker for utes.

    I love this shot showing the size difference. In real life the difference is even greater since the photo makes the Morgan look bigger as it is closer to the camera. race cars.jpg

    Maybe the closest you'll come is an ALL British car gathering....where some three wheelers might show up.

    This TG500 still exists, although this is dated article it explains the history of this particular car and some of its racing history as pictured in the previous post.

    I have restored two TG500’s, although they are powerful, and quite unique, I prefer my KR201 or my KR200.

    I'm reading a book about Morgan's racing history. Most every page says in some race they came in 2nd behind a GN. Those were really fabulous cars and the chain gang is fascinating.

    The first cycle car built in South Australia in 1904 by F.B. Puckridge of Port Lincoln. Apart from the engine, the car was entirely South Australian in design; the two men in the car used it to tour the district as painters and renovators. A note attached to the back of the photograph reads as follows: ‘Note supplied by FB Puckridge of Port Lincoln. The car, here shown, I built in 1904 for Dr. E Kinmont. It had 2 and three quarters HP air cooled engine with a fan in tunnel. Engine was built by MMC England under De Dion licence. The rest of the car was entirely South Australian. It had two speed gear box, no reverse, and the gears were cut by JH Southcott to my own design. Clutch and gearbox were operated by a single lever, which operated smoothly and efficiently. Starting was by chain worked through floor on a free-wheel clutch fitted to drive shaft. Final drive through V belts. No differential. Ignition by battery – magnetos had not then come into use. Dr Kinmont used it in his practice over the district extending beyond Tumby Bayon on the north (30 miles) to as far as Elliston (105) on the West Coast. It gave him good service for about 12 months when he bought a larger car and sold this one to Crawford and Rule (shown in the photo) who used it touring through the district as painters and renovators. It was certainly the first car built on Eyre’s Peninsula and, I think, the first cycle-car in South Australia.

    Does the starting handle work on the camshaft, I wonder?

    Ariès were subsequently pioneers in pontoon coachwork:

Today was an historic Cooper day. We returned the fully rebuilt Ex Spike Rhiando Cooper Twin to Dad's. This is THE very first Cooper V twin, from the first production batch in 1948, now back to its original form, but also a multiple 500cc record holder in the hands of Tim Cameron and Ewan Cameron during the 1980s and 1990s when Nitro methane was king! Most of the finish details done by Fin Cameron .
