My choice would have to be Dave Stucky's Lil Coffin... coffin.jpg coffin2.jpg coffin3.jpg coffin4.jpg

  4. I just have a soft spot for 1963 1/2 Falcon Sprints, and the old 5 spoke mags always look good. HRP

This photo is of my old 63 1/2 back in 1967, it had 5 spokes also. HRP

  6. Clarification.... wheels made of Magnesium? Or Mag wheels? I assume the former but the "Mag" style wheel in the vernacular is a wide definition.

As this topic is very near and dear to me, I possess a very strong bias on the subject. There are at least hundreds that I love , alas; I will choose my own old ratty buckboard everytime… A1B81776-B78D-45CE-94E7-10D09F959D5B.jpeg 35B13FF9-36D3-4ABD-AD78-8B48DF3033AD.jpeg C3A40484-447C-49A6-9B16-DFEA55E6177A.jpeg D86BA365-92A8-4B4B-A7CC-DA10B25110DD.jpeg 379582D5-629D-451F-B4DE-10BAB55070C3.jpeg

Dan Hay brings up a good point.

    I’m disqualified. Too many favorites.

And yes Dan, a mag wheel needs to be made of real magnesium. Otherwise it’s just a wheel.

Is this a "Magnesium" wheel thread, or just what people "call" their wheels magnesium ?
If you want "actual" magnesium, feel free to remove this post !
OR...just pretend that the REAL magnesium wheels sitting on the shelf waiting for race rubber are the ones on the car.
They look almost identical to what you see here !!

I personally prefer my mag wheels to be made of magnesium... but for the purpose of quantity, I think we should allow "mag like" wheels in this here study...

I think Mox Miller broke the mold when it came to using mag wheels on a custom. At a time when guys were putting chrome reversed wheels or Buick Skylark wires on their customs Mox chose Halibrand Indy mags. Those wheels are REAL magnesium. I spent a day helping Mox polish them so Pat Ganahl could shoot the car for his "Hot Rod" video. Made me appreciate polished aluminum.

When anyone says "mags" I think of the Doyle Gammell coupe. Car's just seared in my brain.

@Ryan - Looks like I don't need to post a photo of my top pick.... You already did.
If I could only have one car in my garage, that would be it.

  19. Wow ... picking just one is way more difficult than I thought it would be ... so I guess my choice will have to be the 1964 version of the car parked in my own garage:

    The HEMI32 Coupe - 1964.jpg
REAR: 15x8.5 American Racing (magnesium) Torq Thrust 5-spokes
FRONT: 15x4 American Racing (magnesium) "LeMans" Torq Thrust 5-spokes
